Hemoglobin III (HbIII) is one of the two oxygen reactive hemoproteins present in the bivalve, Lucina pectinata. The clam inhabits a sulfur-rich environment and HbIII is the only hemoprotein present in the system which does not yet have a structure described elsewhere.
