ABSTRACT: Objective
This study aimed to identify subgroups of adults based on comorbid psychiatric disorders and to examine the relationship with current smoking. Method: The National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions-III, 2012-2013, sampled, recruited, and assessed 36,309 adults, with interviews on drug use and other characteristics. The Alcohol Use Disorder and Associated Disabilities Interview Schedule DSM-5 Version (AUDADIS-5) was used to identify psychiatric conditions. Latent class models were developed based on various psychiatric diagnoses. Multinomial logistic regression estimated the significance of covariates in predicting class membership.
