Research on multi-objective optimal scheduling considering the balance of labor workload distribution.

ABSTRACT: In order to solve the problem of unbalanced workload of employees in parallel flow shop scheduling, a method of job standard balance is proposed to describe the work balance of employees. The minimum delay time of completion and the imbalance of employee work are taken as the two goals of the model. A bi-objective nonlinear integer programming model is proposed. NSGA-II-EDSP, NSGA-II-KES, and NSGA-II-QKES heuristic rule algorithms are designed to solve the problem. A number of computational experiments of different sizes are conducted, and compared with solutions generated by NSGA-II. The experimental results show the advantages of the proposed model and method, which error is reduced 14.56%, 15.16% and 15.67%.

Optimal power-heat-carbon scheduling strategy for interconnected heterogeneous multi-microgrid considering hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Project description:The scale of multi-microgrid (MMG) and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (HFCVs) is increasing dramatically with the increase in the new energy penetration ratio, and developing an integrated energy system containing a multi-microgrid for hydrogen fuel vehicles brings great challenges to power grid operation. Focusing on the difficulties of the access of multiple microgrids for the low-carbon and economic operation of the system, this paper proposes an optimal interconnected heterogeneous multi-microgrid power-heat-carbon scheduling strategy for hydrogen-fueled vehicles. Firstly, an HFCV model is established, and then an optimal scheduling model is constructed for the cooperative trading of power-heat-carbon in a multi-microgrid, on the basis of which the low-carbon economic operation of the multi-microgrid is realized. The results of the case study show that the scheduling strategy in this paper reduces carbon emissions by about 7.12% and costs by about 3.41% compared with the independent operation of the multi-microgrid. The degrees of interaction of each multi-microgrid are also analyzed under different HFCV penetration rates.

Multi-objective optimization of dual resource integrated scheduling problem of production equipment and RGVs considering conflict-free routing.

Project description:In flexible job shop scheduling problem (FJSP), the collision of bidirectional rail guided vehicles (RGVs) directly affects RGVs scheduling, and it is closely coupled with the allocation of production equipment, which directly affects the production efficiency. In this problem, taking minimizing the maximum completion time of RGVs and minimizing the maximum completion time of products as multi-objectives a dual-resource integrated scheduling model of production equipment and RGVs considering conflict-free routing problem (CFRP) is proposed. To solve the model, a multi-objective improved discrete grey wolf optimizer (MOID-GWO) is designed. Further, the performance of popular multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) such as NSGA-Ⅱ, SPEA2 and MOPSO are selected for comparative test. The results show that, among 42 instances of different scales designed, 37, 34 and 28 instances in MOID-GWO are superior to the comparison algorithms in metrics of generational distance (GD), inverted GD (IGD) and Spread, respectively. Moreover, in metric of Convergence and Diversity (CD), the Pareto frontier (PF) obtained by MOID-GWO is closer to the optimal solution. Finally, taking the production process of a construction machinery equipment component as an example, the validity and feasibility of the model and algorithm are verified.

Bi-Objective Flexible Job-Shop Scheduling Problem Considering Energy Consumption under Stochastic Processing Times.

Project description:This paper presents a novel method on the optimization of bi-objective Flexible Job-shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP) under stochastic processing times. The robust counterpart model and the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) are used to solve the bi-objective FJSP with consideration of the completion time and the total energy consumption under stochastic processing times. The case study on GM Corporation verifies that the NSGA-II used in this paper is effective and has advantages to solve the proposed model comparing with HPSO and PSO+SA. The idea and method of the paper can be generalized widely in the manufacturing industry, because it can reduce the energy consumption of the energy-intensive manufacturing enterprise with less investment when the new approach is applied in existing systems.

Optimal sizing and energy scheduling of isolated microgrid considering the battery lifetime degradation.

Project description:The incessantly growing demand for electricity in today's world claims an efficient and reliable system of energy supply. Distributed energy resources such as diesel generators, wind energy and solar energy can be combined within a microgrid to provide energy to the consumers in a sustainable manner. In order to ensure more reliable and economical energy supply, battery storage system is integrated within the microgrid. In this article, operating cost of isolated microgrid is reduced by economic scheduling considering the optimal size of the battery. However, deep discharge shortens the lifetime of battery operation. Therefore, the real time battery operation cost is modeled considering the depth of discharge at each time interval. Moreover, the proposed economic scheduling with battery sizing is optimized using firefly algorithm (FA). The efficacy of FA is compared with other metaheuristic techniques in terms of performance measurement indices, which are cost of electricity and loss of power supply probability. The results show that the proposed technique reduces the cost of microgrid and attain optimal size of the battery.

Additional goals include: reducing management time, optimizing clinical resources, and securing personally identifiable information.Materials and methodsFollowing a model view controller architecture, we developed a web-based tool written in Python 3.ResultsSmart Scheduling (SMASCH) system facilitates clinical research and integrated care programs in Luxembourg, providing features to better manage MASPs and speed up management tasks. It is available both as a Linux package and Docker image (https://smasch.pages.uni.lu).DiscussionThe long-term requirements of longitudinal clinical research studies justify the employment of flexible and well-maintained frameworks and libraries through an iterative software life-cycle suited to respond to rapidly changing scenarios.ConclusionsSMASCH is a free and open-source scheduling system for clinical studies able to satisfy recent data regulations providing features for better data accountability. Better scheduling systems can help optimize several metrics that ultimately affect the success of clinical studies.

A benchmark dataset for multi-objective flexible job shop cell scheduling.

Project description:This data article presents a description of a benchmark dataset for the multi-objective flexible job shop scheduling problem in a cellular manufacturing environment. This problem considers intercellular moves, exceptional parts, sequence-dependent family setup and intercellular transportation times, and recirculation requiring minimization of makespan and total tardiness simultaneously. It is called a flexible job shop cell scheduling problem with sequence-dependent family setup times and intercellular transportation times (FJCS-SDFSTs-ITTs) problem. The dataset has been developed to evaluate the multi-objective evolutionary algorithms of the FJCS-SDFSTs-ITTs problems that are presented in 'Evolutionary algorithms for multi-objective flexible job shop cell scheduling'. The dataset contains forty- three benchmark instances from 'small' to 'large', including a large real-world problem instance. Researchers can use the dataset to evaluate the future algorithms for the FJCS-SDFSTs- ITTs problems and compare the performance with the existing algorithms.

Integrated energy system optimal scheduling considering the comprehensive and flexible operation mode of pumping storage

Project description:The integrated energy system (IES) optimal scheduling under the comprehensive flexible operation mode of pumping storage is considered. This system is conducive to the promotion of the accommodation of wind and solar energy and can meet the water, electricity and heat needs of coastal areas far away from the energy center. In this study, the joint dispatch between double pumped storage power stations is used to accommodate wind and solar energy better and smooth their fluctuations on the grid. Through the scheduling of water between the high and low reservoirs of double pumped storage power stations and the reservoir of the seawater desalination plant, the impact of storage capacity constraints on pumped storage power plants is reduced. Moreover, the objective function to build the IES optimization scheduling model is to achieve minimum economic cost. The results reveal that the integrated energy system accommodates all wind energy and solar energy. As such, the system increases the average working time of the pumped storage unit by 1.9 hours and reduces the economic cost by 31.50%. Based on the simulation results, the model can enhance the accommodation capability of wind energy and solar energy and improve the system economy.

Multi-objective optimization of enzyme manipulations in metabolic networks considering resilience effects.

Project description:BackgroundImproving the synthesis rate of desired metabolites in metabolic systems is one of the main tasks in metabolic engineering. In the last decade, metabolic engineering approaches based on the mathematical optimization have been used extensively for the analysis and manipulation of metabolic networks. Experimental evidence shows that mutants reflect resilience phenomena against gene alterations. Although researchers have published many studies on the design of metabolic systems based on kinetic models and optimization strategies, almost no studies discuss the multi-objective optimization problem for enzyme manipulations in metabolic networks considering resilience phenomenon.ResultsThis study proposes a generalized fuzzy multi-objective optimization approach to formulate the enzyme intervention problem for metabolic networks considering resilience phenomena and cell viability. This approach is a general framework that can be applied to any metabolic networks to investigate the influence of resilience phenomena on gene intervention strategies and maximum target synthesis rates. This study evaluates the performance of the proposed approach by applying it to two metabolic systems: S. cerevisiae and E. coli. Results show that the maximum synthesis rates of target products by genetic interventions are always over-estimated in metabolic networks that do not consider the resilience effects.ConclusionsConsidering the resilience phenomena in metabolic networks can improve the predictions of gene intervention and maximum synthesis rates in metabolic engineering. The proposed generalized fuzzy multi-objective optimization approach has the potential to be a good and practical framework in the design of metabolic networks.

Multi-objective optimal decision for orderly power utilization based on improved ε-constraint method in active distribution networks.

Project description:With the increasing demand for electricity load in China, orderly power utilization are important measures to alleviate electricity shortages during peak periods. This article establishes a multi-objective optimization model for orderly power utilization in active distribution networks is established, with the optimization objectives of minimizing the total operation cost, minimizing the cost for users, and minimizing the load fluctuation of the system. This model contains a large number of integer variables and nonlinear constraints, which is difficult to solve. To reduce computation time, convex relaxation techniques are adopted to transform the original model into a mixed-integer second-order cone programming (MISOCP) model, which has lower computational complexity. Furthermore, The improved ε-constraint method is proposed to solve the model, which can directly and quickly find the compromise optimal solution of the multi-objective problem. By using simplex search algorithm, the proposed method dose not need to traverse all grid points, which can significantly reduce computation time. Finally, case study on the the IEEE-33 bus distribution network demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
