First record of the subfamily Oxytorinae (Insecta, Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) from the Oriental Region, with descriptions of two new species from Vietnam.

ABSTRACT:

Background

The Oxytorinae is a small subfamily of the family Ichneumonidae (Insecta, Hymenoptera) with the single genus Oxytorus Förster and 23 described species. Species were previously known to occur in the Palaearctic, Nearctic and Neotropical Regions.

New information

The ichneumonid subfamily Oxytorinae is recorded for the first time from the Oriental Region. Two species, one from northern and one from central Vietnam, are described as new: Oxytoruscarinatus Riedel, sp. n. and O.rufopropodealis Riedel, sp. n.

Project description:A new species of the genus Lethades Davis, 1897 (Ctenopelmatinae: Pionini), Lethades orientalis Reshchikov & Xu, sp. n., collected in Heishiding Nature Reserve in Guangdong Province, China, is described. This is new record of the genus from China and for the Oriental region also. The species can be distinguished from all other species of the genus by its black metasoma, the presence of an areolet on the fore wing, distinctly pectinate claws with teeth of the hind claw as high as the claw itself, and a complete longitudinal propodeal carina. A key to the world species of the genus is provided.

Discovery of the genus Glyphicnemis Forster in the Oriental Region (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Cryptinae).

Project description:The genus Glyphicnemis Förster, 1869 is newly recorded from the Oriental Region based on a new species, Glyphicnemis ganica Sheng & Li, sp. n., collected from Jiangxi Province, in the oriental part of China. This species resembles G. watanabei (Uchida, 1930) from Japan in the coloration of flagellum and the structure and colouration of metasomal tergites, but it can be distinguished by the density and length of clypeal setae, the large propodeal spiracle, and the sculpture of area superomedia. Illustrations of G. ganica and G. watanabei are provided. A key to the Asian species of this genus is also given.

The present list includes several records of species that are new for the German fauna and species that were discovered since the last checklist was published. The present checklist was compiled as part of the DNA barcoding projects at the Zoologische Staatssammlung München.New informationThe checklist includes 3,644 species of Ichneumonidae from Germany, with 48 species recorded for the first time. Compared to the checklist published 20 years ago, the number of ichneumonid species recorded from Germany has increased by 312 species.

Project description:Two new species of the genus Trispinaria Quicke, 1986, from Vietnam, viz. T. seminigra Long, sp. nov. and T. vietnamica Long, sp. nov., are described and fully illustrated. Additionally, this is the first record of the genus Trispinaria in Vietnam. A checklist with distributions of previously described species of the genus Trispinaria is given. Comparative characters of the Vietnamese species are provided and modified key couplets are provided to facilitate their identification.

The new species represents the first known record of Odontosphaeropyx from outside of the Afrotropical Region. A key is provided to separate it from the apparently closely related O.flavifasciatus Zettel, 1990, with which it shares almost identical colouration, very different from the other five known species.

Two species, Coleocentrusexareolatus Kriechbaumer, 1894 and Coleocentrusheteropus Thomson, 1894 are new records for Ukraine. Arotesannulicornis Kriechbaumer, 1894 is considered to be a junior synonym of Arotesalbicinctus Gravenhorst, 1829 (syn. nov.). A key to species of Coleocentrus of the Carpathians is provided.
