Draft Genome Sequence of Salegentibacter sp. Strain BDJ18, a Plankton-Associated Bacterium in the Northeast Atlantic Ocean.

ABSTRACT: Salegentibacter sp. strain BDJ18 was isolated from a plankton-associated seawater sample from the northeast Atlantic Ocean. We report its draft genome assembly, which includes genes potentially important for microbial interactions in the marine environment.

Project description:Chromobacterium sp. strain C-61 is a plant-associated bacterium with proven capacities to suppress plant diseases. Here, we report the draft genome sequence and automatic annotation of strain C-61. A comparison of this sequence to the sequenced genome of Chromobacterium violaceum ATCC 12472 indicates the novelty of C-61 and a subset of gene functions that may be related to its biocontrol activities.

Draft Genome Sequence of the Marine Bacterium Alteromonas sp. Strain KS69.

Project description:Alteromonas spp. are Gram-negative, aerobic, marine bacteria. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Alteromonas sp. strain KS69, isolated from Narragansett Bay deep water samples. Unpublished preliminary data suggest that KS69 reduces expression of the 3-oxo-C12-HSL-dependent, virulence-associated gene lasB of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1, suggesting that it produces a quorum sensing inhibitor.

Project description:This report describes the whole-genome sequence of a microcystin-degrading bacterium, Novosphingobium sp. strain MD-1, isolated from a lake in Japan. The Novosphingobium sp. strain MD-1 genome had a total length of 4,617,766?bp. Moreover, strain MD-1 showed a conserved microcystin-degrading gene cluster (mlrA to mlrF), similar to Sphingopyxis sp. strain C-1.
