Specific PCR identification and differentiation of the thermophilic campylobacters, Campylobacter jejuni, C. coli, C. lari, and C. upsaliensis.

ABSTRACT: A sensitive PCR assay that detects the thermophilic campylobacters C. jejuni, C. coli, C. lari, and C. upsaliensis is reported. Furthermore, by digestion of the PCR products with two restriction enzymes, species differentiation was demonstrated. Thus, the present method has the potential to be used for both detection and identification of thermophilic Campylobacter species.
