Infection with <i>Helicobacter pylori</i> is one of the most important risk factors for developing gastric cancer (GC). The type IV secretion system (T4SS) encoded in the <i>cag</i> pathogenicity island is the main virulence factor of <i>H. pylori</i> associated with GC.
