A novel porous calcium silicate (CS)-enhanced small intestinal submucosa (SIS) scaffold was prepared by freeze-drying to mimic the natural extracellular matrix environment for bone tissue engineering. The micro-morphology, physicochemical properties, biological characteristics, and effects on osteogenic differentiation <i>in vitro</i> were explored; the effects on promoting bone formation <i>in vivo</i> were evaluated.
