Crystal structure of a trigonal polymorph of aqua-dioxidobis(pentane-2,4-dionato-κ² O,O')uranium(VI).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [UO₂(acac)₂(H₂O)] consists of a uran-yl(VI) unit ([O=U=O]²⁺) coordinated to two monoanionic acetyl-acetonate (acac, C₅H₇O₂) ligands and one water mol-ecule. The asymmetric unit includes a one-half of a uranium atom, one oxido ion, one-half of a water mol-ecule and one acac ligand. The coordination about the uranium atom is distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal. The acac ligands and O_w atom comprise the equatorial plane, while the uranyl O atoms occupy the axial positions. Inter-molecular hydrogen bonding between complexes results in the formation of two-dimensional hexa-gonal void channels along the c-axis direction with a diameter of 6.7 Å. The monoclinic (P2₁/c space group) polymorph was reported by Alcock & Flanders [(1987). Acta Cryst. C43, 1480-1483].

It exhibits a UO(7) penta-gonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry about the U(VI) atom, involving two bidentate acetyl-acetonate ions and one water mol-ecule. The N atoms of the pyrazine mol-ecules are not coordinated to the U(VI) atom, and are connected with the aqua O atom by hydrogen bonds. This results in a zigzag chain arrangement along the [10] direction.

Project description:The title complex, [Co(2)(C(5)HF(6)O(2))(2)(C(5)H(7)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], is centrosymmetric with a crystallographic inversion center in the middle of the mol-ecule. The octa-hedrally coordinated Co(II) atoms are bridged by two chelating acetyl-acetonate (acac) ligands and two more electron-poor 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexa-fluoro-pentane-2,4-dionato (hfac) ligands are bonded terminally in a solely chelating manner. The coordinated water mol-ecules form inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds with electron-rich acac O atoms of neighboring mol-ecules, leading to strings of mol-ecules along the a axis.

Project description:In the anion of the title compound, (C(5)H(6)N)[Dy(C(5)H(4)F(3)O(2))(4)], the central metal ion, Dy(3+), is coordinated by four bidentate 1,1,1-trifluoro-pentane-2,4-dionate (TAA) ligands, forming an approximate square-anti-prismatic configuration. The pyridin-ium cation is connected to the complex ion by an N-H?O hydrogen bond and electrostatic inter-actions in the crystal. There are two kinds of disorder in the structure, one involving rotational disorder of a CF(3) group [occupancy ratio 0.560?(15):0.440?(15)] and the other involving an exchange between a CF(3) group and CH(3) group within a given bidentate ligand (occupancy ratio 0.64:0.36).

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Co(C(5)H(6)NO(4))(3)], consists of a Co(III) ion octahedrally coordinated by three bidentate 3-nitro-pentane-2,4-dionate ligands. The complex was prepared via the nitration of tris-(2,4-penta-nedionato-?(2)O,O')cobalt(III) with a solution of copper(II) nitrate in glacial acetic acid. The central C atom and the nitro group of one 3-nitro-pentane-2,4-dionate ligand are disordered over two positions with an occupancy ratio of 0.848?(4):0.152?(4). A second nitro group is also disordered over two orientations with an occupancy ratio of 0.892?(7):0.108?(7). Two of the ligand methyl groups form C-H?O inter-actions with two different nitro groups to form chains running along the c axis. Additional C-H?O inter-actions are found between ligand methyl groups and the cobalt-bound O atoms, also resulting in the formation of chains along the c axis.

Project description:In the title compound, [Fe(C(5)H(6)ClO(2))(3)], the Fe(III) cation is situated on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by six O atoms from three 3-chloro-pentane-2,4-dionate ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. Fe-O bond lengths are in the range 1.9818?(18)-1.9957?(18)?Å. The trans O-Fe-O angles are 169.06?(13) and 171.54?(8)°, whereas the corresponding cis angles are in the range 84.81?(10)-100.68?(12)°. Tris(1,1,1,5,5,5-hexa-fluoro-2,4-pentane-dionato-?O,O')molybdenum(III).

Project description:In the title compound, [Mo(C(5)HF(6)O(2))(3)], the unit cell is built up by three independent Mo(III) atoms located on two different threefold axes. The three independent mol-ecules are roughly identical and each Mo(III) atom is surrounded by three chelating hexa-fluoro-acetonate ligands in a three-bladed propeller-like arrangement, as observed in related compounds with acetyl-acetonate-type ligands. The structure of the title compound is very similar to the trigonal form of the Cr(III) analogue. However, the latter crystallizes in a higher-symmetry space group, Pc1. Both crystals are twinned by merohedry with the same twin law (0/010/00) in reciprocal space, but the symmetry of the Laue group in which it operates is different, to m for the title complex, and m to 6/mmm for the Cr(III) complex.
