The second species of the genus Ivoria Kontschan, 2019: description of Ivoriaalourouai sp. nov. from Ivory Coast (Acari, Mesostigmata, Urodinychidae)

ABSTRACT: Abstract A new Ivoria species (Ivoriaalourouaisp. nov.) is described from Ivory Coast based on five females. The new species differs from the previously described congener (Ivoriataienesis Kontschán, 2019) based on the shape of female genital shield, dorsal setae, centro-caudal part of the marginal shield and peritremes.

Project description:The Genus Gaeolaelaps Evans & Till, 1966 is currently one of the largest genera of the family Laelapidae Berlese. The known representatives of this genus are active predators of small invertebrates such as other mites, insect eggs and nematodes. Gaeolaelaps iranicus Kavianpour & Nemati sp. n., was collected from soil and litter in various parts of Iran. The description and figures of this species are given. A key to the Gaeolaelaps species of Iran is provided.

Limnohabitans planktonicus sp. nov. and Limnohabitans parvus sp. nov., planktonic betaproteobacteria isolated from a freshwater reservoir, and emended description of the genus Limnohabitans.

Project description:Two bacterial strains, II-B4(T) and II-D5(T), isolated from the meso-eutrophic freshwater ?ímov reservoir (Czech Republic), were characterized phenotypically, phylogenetically and chemotaxonomically. Both strains were chemo-organotrophic, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile rods, with identical DNA G+C contents of 59.9&emsp14;mol%. Their major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylethanolamine and their major fatty acids were C(16?:?1)?7c/C(16?:?1)?6c, C(16?:?0), C(18?:?1)?7c/C(18?:?1)?6c and C(12?:?0). Both strains contained Q-8 as the only respiratory quinone component. The 16S rRNA gene sequences of the two strains possessed 99.1?% similarity; however, the level of DNA-DNA reassociation was only 26.7?%. The strains can also be discriminated from each other by several chemotaxonomic and biochemical traits. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed the affiliation of both strains with the genus Limnohabitans within the family Comamonadaceae. The two investigated strains represent the first isolated members of a narrow phylogenetic cluster (the so-called R-BT065 cluster) formed by a large number of environmental sequences and abundant populations detected in the pelagic zones of various freshwater habitats. We propose to place the two strains in separate novel species within the genus Limnohabitans, Limnohabitans planktonicus sp. nov., with the type strain II-D5(T) (=DSM 21594(T) =CIP 109844(T)), and Limnohabitans parvus sp. nov., with the type strain II-B4(T) (=DSM 21592(T) =CIP 109845(T)). The description of the genus Limnohabitans is emended accordingly.

Additions to the genus Gimesia: description of Gimesia alba sp. nov., Gimesia algae sp. nov., Gimesia aquarii sp. nov., Gimesia aquatilis sp. nov., Gimesia fumaroli sp. nov. and Gimesia panareensis sp. nov., isolated from aquatic habitats of the Northern Hemisphere.

Project description:Thirteen novel planctomycetal strains were isolated from five different aquatic sampling locations. These comprise the hydrothermal vent system close to Panarea Island (Italy), a biofilm on the surface of kelp at Monterey Bay (CA, USA), sediment and algae on Mallorca Island (Spain) and Helgoland Island (Germany), as well as a seawater aquarium in Braunschweig, Germany. All strains were shown to belong to the genus Gimesia. Their genomes cover a size range from 7.22 to 8.29 Mb and have a G+C content between 45.1 and 53.7%. All strains are mesophilic (Topt 26-33 °C) with generation times between 12 and 32 h. Analysis of fatty acids yielded palmitic acid (16:0) and a fatty acid with the equivalent chain length of 15.817 as major compounds. While five of the novel strains belong to the already described species Gimesia maris and Gimesia chilikensis, the other strains belong to novel species, for which we propose the names Gimesia alba (type strain Pan241wT = DSM 100744T = LMG 31345T = CECT 9841T = VKM B-3430T), Gimesia algae (type strain Pan161T = CECT 30192T = STH00943T = LMG 29130T), Gimesia aquarii (type strain V144T = DSM 101710T = VKM B-3433T), Gimesia fumaroli (type strain Enr17T = DSM 100710T = VKM B-3429T) and Gimesia panareensis (type strain Enr10T = DSM 100416T = LMG 29082T). STH numbers refer to the Jena Microbial Resource Collection (JMRC).

Robertkochia solimangrovi sp. nov., isolated from mangrove soil, and emended description of the genus Robertkochia.

Project description:To date, there is sparse information for the genus Robertkochia with Robertkochia marina CC-AMO-30DT as the only described member. We report here a new species isolated from mangrove soil collected at Malaysia Tanjung Piai National Park and perform polyphasic characterization to determine its taxonomic position. Strain CL23T is a Gram-negative, yellow-pigmented, strictly aerobic, catalase-positive and oxidase-positive bacterium. The optimal growth conditions were determined to be at pH 7.0, 30-37 °C and in 1-2 % (w/v) NaCl. The major respiratory quinone was menaquinone-6 (MK-6) and the highly abundant polar lipids were four unidentified lipids, a phosphatidylethanolamine and two unidentified aminolipids. The 16S rRNA gene similarity between strain CL23T and R. marina CC-AMO-30DT is 96.67 %. Strain CL23T and R. marina CC-AMO-30DT clustered together and were distinguished from taxa of closely related genera in 16S rRNA gene phylogenetic analysis. Genome sequencing revealed that strain CL23T has a genome size of 4.4 Mbp and a G+C content of 40.72 mol%. Overall genome related indexes including digital DNA-DNA hybridization value and average nucleotide identity are 17.70 % and approximately 70%, below the cutoffs of 70 and 95%, respectively, indicated that strain CL23T is a distinct species from R. marina CC-AMO-30DT. Collectively, based on the phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic and genomic evidences presented here, strain CL23T is proposed to represent a new species with the name Robertkochia solimangrovi sp. nov. (KCTC 72252T=LMG 31418T). An emended description of the genus Robertkochia is also proposed.

Lacydoniidae (Annelida) Off the Coast of North-eastern Japan: A Description of <i>Lacydonia japonica</i> sp. nov.

Project description:Lacydonia japonica sp. nov. (Annelida, Lacydoniidae) is described based on material found in sediments collected off the Pacific coast of northern Honshu, Japan, at depths of 262 m and 407 m. The sediments were obtained by a remotely operated vehicle equipped with a suction sampler during a Tohoku Ecosystem-Associated Marine Sciences (TEAMS) project in 2019. Lacydonia japonica sp. nov. belongs to the eyeless group of lacydoniids and is discriminated from the morphologically most similar congener, Lacydonia papillata Uschakov, 1958 by its reddish pigments on both the dorsal and ventral parapodial cirri and four pigment spots on the pygidium. To assess the phylogenetic position of the new species among other lacydoniids for which sequence data are available in public databases, analyses were performed using the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) and 16S rRNA, as well as the nuclear 18S rRNA and 28S rRNA genes. We additionally obtained some lacydoniids by sledging off western Japan, but these were severely fragmented and broken during collection. Using the paucity of morphological data, they were left unidentified as Lacydonia sp. but included in the molecular analyses. Genetic distances between Lacydonia eliasoni Hartmann-Schröder, 1996, Lacydonia japonica, and Lacydonia sp. off western Japan were 10.4-17.1% uncorrected p-distance (11.3-18.6% K2P) in terms of 658-bp COI sequences.

Oribacterium parvum sp. nov. and Oribacterium asaccharolyticum sp. nov., obligately anaerobic bacteria from the human oral cavity, and emended description of the genus Oribacterium.

Project description:Three strictly anaerobic, Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped, motile bacteria, designated strains ACB1(T), ACB7(T) and ACB8, were isolated from human subgingival dental plaque. All strains required yeast extract for growth. Strains ACB1(T) and ACB8 were able to grow on glucose, lactose, maltose, maltodextrin and raffinose; strain ACB7(T) grew weakly on sucrose only. The growth temperature range was 30-42 °C with optimum growth at 37 °C. Major metabolic fermentation end products of strain ACB1(T) were acetate and lactate; the only product of strains ACB7(T) and ACB8 was acetate. Major fatty acids of strain ACB1(T) were C(14?:?0), C(16?:?0), C(16?:?1)?7c dimethyl aldehyde (DMA) and C(18?:?1)?7c DMA. Major fatty acids of strain ACB7(T) were C(12?:?0), C(14?:?0), C(16?:?0), C(16?:?1)?7c and C(16?:?1)?7c DMA. The hydrolysate of the peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid, indicating peptidoglycan type A1?. Genomic DNA G+C content varied from 42 to 43.3% between strains. According to 16S rRNA gene sequence phylogeny, strains ACB1(T), ACB8 and ACB7(T) formed two separate branches within the genus Oribacterium, with 98.1-98.6% sequence similarity to the type strain of the type species, Oribacterium sinus. Predicted DNA-DNA hybridization values between strains ACB1(T), ACB8, ACB7(T) and O. sinus F0268 were <70%. Based on distinct genotypic and phenotypic characteristics, strains ACB1(T) and ACB8, and strain ACB7(T) are considered to represent two distinct species of the genus Oribacterium, for which the names Oribacterium parvum sp. nov. and Oribacterium asaccharolyticum sp. nov. are proposed. The type strains are ACB1(T) (?=?DSM 24637(T)?=?HM-481(T)?=?ATCC BAA-2638(T)) and ACB7(T) (?=?DSM 24638(T)?=?HM-482(T)?=?ATCC BAA-2639(T)), respectively.

Non-contiguous finished genome sequence and description of Fenollaria massiliensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new genus of anaerobic bacterium.

Project description:Fenollaria massiliensis strain 9401234(T), is the type strain of Fenollaria massiliensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new species within a new genus Fenollaria. This strain, whose genome is described here, was isolated from an osteoarticular sample. F. massiliensis strain 9401234(T) is an obligate anaerobic Gram-negative bacillus. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence and annotation. The 1.71 Mbp long genome exhibits a G+C content of 34.46% and contains 1,667 protein-coding and 30 RNA genes, including 3 rRNA genes.
