Fruit ripening is regulated by epigenetic modifications and transcription factors, which may function independently or as protein complexes. Our previous study showed that the apple histone deacetylase19 (<i>MdHDA19</i>) suppresses fruit ripening through the deacetylation of histones in related genes.
