Transferable linezolid resistance due to <i>optrA</i>, <i>poxtA</i>, <i>cfr</i> and <i>cfr</i>-like genes is increasingly detected in enterococci associated with animals and humans globally. We aimed to characterize the genetic environment of <i>optrA</i> in linezolid-resistant <i>Enterococcus faecalis</i> isolates from Scotland.
