Phospholipase D (PLD) is a phospholipase enzyme responsible for hydrolyzing phosphatidylcholine into the lipid signaling molecule, phosphatidic acid, and choline. From a therapeutic perspective, PLD has been implicated in human cancer progression as well as a target for neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's.
