Draft Genome Sequences of a Bifidobacterium Strain and a Bacteroides Strain Isolated from a Human Stool Sample.

ABSTRACT: We present draft genome sequences of Bifidobacterium longum subsp. longum JCM 7050 and Bacteroides sp. strain 1_1_30 isolated from a healthy donor's fecal sample obtained from a public stool bank, OpenBiome. Phylogenetic and functional analyses were performed to understand the physiological characteristics and functions of the strains in the human intestine.

Project description:Bacillus velezensis, a species first described in 2005, has been mostly associated with plants and the environment. To date, there is no genome available for this species from human samples. In this announcement, we present the genome of Bacillus velezensis strain Marseille-Q1230, which was isolated from a stool sample from a child suffering from severe acute malnutrition. The genome assembled into 15 contigs and had a size of 3,861,152 bp, with a GC content of 46.6%. A total of 3,716 protein-coding genes, including 3 antibiotic resistance genes and 92 RNAs, were predicted.

Draft Genome Sequences of Bifidobacterium animalis Consecutively Isolated from Healthy Japanese Individuals.

Project description:Bifidobacterium species are well recognized as probiotics and colonized in various parts of the human body. Here, we report the draft genome sequences of Bifidobacterium animalis isolated from two healthy Japanese volunteers, one of which was sampled twice before and after a 10-year interval. A core genome phylogeny analysis indicated that the strains isolated from the same volunteer were closely related. This paper is the first report of multiple draft genome sequences of B. animalis independently isolated from the same individual and provides insight into the probiotic potential of a member of this species.

Draft genome sequence data of Bifidobacterium longum strain VKPM Ac-1636, a prospective probiotic isolated from human gut.

Project description:Data on the draft genome sequence of Bifidobacterium longumsubsp. longum strain Ac-1636 is presented in this report. This strain, isolated from the digestive tract of one-year old healthy infant, was deposited in the Russian National Collection of Industrial Microorganisms as a prospective candidate for development of probiotics and probiotic foods. The 2,321,741 bp draft genome consists of 73 scaffolds with N50 of 162,253 bp. Genome annotation revealed the presence of multiple determinants of probiotic properties of this strain. The draft genome sequence data of strainAc-1636 is available in DBJ/EMBL/GenBank under the accession nos. RZHL00000000, PRJNA511803 and SAMN10644101 for Genome, Bioproject and Biosample, respectively.
