Sequestration of pyridinium herbicides in plants by carboxylated pillararenes possessing different alkyl chains.


ABSTRACT: We report that the sequestration of pyridinium-containing herbicides can be achieved on plant foliage through the strong supramolecular complexation with water-soluble pillararenes. The host-guest interaction appears to exert a protective effect on the plant growth, thus holding great promise in agricultural application.
