Endovascular Repair of an Iatrogenic Pulmonary Artery Pseudoaneurysm.

ABSTRACT: Pulmonary pseudoaneurysms have various causes and typically arise from the main pulmonary artery. Surgical and endovascular options may be considered for treatment. We report the case of a man with a pseudoaneurysm arising from the right pulmonary artery, treated with a septal occlusion device and percutaneous thrombin injection. Project description:BackgroundPopliteal artery pseudoaneurysm is a state of vascular wall rupture in the popliteal artery. It is generally a rare situation and the most common etiologic factor is iatrogenic causes.Case presentationThis case report presents a successful diagnosis and management of a 31-year-old patient who was presented with a mass behind the knee, three months after femoropopliteal bypass for the treatment of a gunshot to the knee. An endovascular approach using coils was utilized for the patient, which led to complete remission for the patient.DiscussionThe current patient had two primary therapeutic challenges: bleeding and hematoma growth, clot development causing blood flow restriction, and limb ischemia. Pseudoaneurysm also caused internal inflammation, which increased the risk of thrombosis and bypass graft damage during open surgery. Due to the risk of recurrence and graft damage, ultrasound-guided compression was not possible. Thus, endovascular therapy was preferred.ConclusionThe endovascular approach using coils is an option for the management of PAP. However, the endovascular approach should be considered carefully according to the patient's status.

Project description:Iatrogenic common femoral artery pseudoaneurysm is a well-known vascular access complication of angiography and transfemoral intervention. Thrombin injection is a well-accepted technique in treating these pseudoaneurysms but possess a significant risk of distal lower extremity thrombosis leading to severe consequences. Several case reports described the novel approach to closing these pseudoaneurysms via a retrograde deployment of an Angio-Seal vascular closure device. We describe a case of a successful treatment of refractory iatrogenic femoral artery pseudoaneurysm using Amplatzer vascular plugs following unsuccessful retrograde deployment of an Angio-Seal vascular closure device.

Huge traumatic pulmonary artery pseudoaneurysm.

Project description:Pulmonary artery pseudoaneurysm is a very rare complication of penetrating thoracic trauma. We present a case of a 27-year-old woman who developed a 6.5-cm traumatic pulmonary artery pseudoaneurysm after suffering multiple stab wounds to the chest and the abdomen. The pseudoaneurysm was successfully treated endovascularly with vascular plug occlusion and coil embolization.

Management of iatrogenic pulmonary artery injury during pulmonary artery banding.

Project description:Pulmonary Artery banding (PAB) is limited to selected patients who cannot undergo primary repair due to complex anatomy, associated co-morbidities, as a part of staged univentricular palliation, and for preparing the left ventricle prior to an arterial switch operation. We report a catastrophic iatrogenic complication in which the pulmonary artery was injured during the PAB. We discuss its multi-pronged management.

Endovascular treatment for iatrogenic rupture of an iliac artery with severe tortuosity.

Project description:Retroperitoneal hemorrhage due to iatrogenic rupture of the iliac artery is a life-threatening complication associated with endovascular intervention. We present a case of iatrogenic iliac rupture after insertion of a sheath into a severely tortuous iliac artery during coil embolization of a cerebral aneurysm. Bleeding was controlled by resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta followed by placement of a balloon-expandable stent graft into the iliac artery. This resulted in complete repair of the ruptured iliac artery. The patient recovered without any neurological complications.

Successful endovascular repair of complicated pseudoaneurysm using Perclose ProGlide: A novel concept

Project description:Abstract Iatrogenic pseudoaneurysm is common vascular complications of angiographic procedures. Patients with uncomplicated pseudoaneurysms can be managed with ultrasound‐guided techniques. However, for complicated pseudoaneurysms, surgical repair of the artery is mandatory. We report a case of successful repair of complicated pseudoaneurysm using an access‐site closure device, Perclose ProGlide™ without a surgical approach. Management of a pseudoaneurysm with a Perclose ProGlideTM could be an option for the treatment when the pseudoaneurysm has a wide neck or complicated features, which is less invasive and costless.

Case report: Endovascular intervention of internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm secondary to nasopharyngeal carcinoma radiotherapy.

Project description:BackgroundInternal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm (PSA) is a serious complication after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and once it ruptures and bleeds, it will seriously affect the patient's survival and prognosis. However, because of its relatively low incidence, many medical institutions lack experience in managing this type of emergency.Case informationIn this case report, we described two cases suffered ruptured internal carotid artery PSA after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, including their history, diagnosis, and treatment. Both cases underwent emergency endovascular interventions, one of which with long-term healing after embolization of the PSA, and the other one with re-bleeding after embolization and was eventually stopped by embolization of the parent artery. Ultimately, both cases received timely and effective treatment.ConclusionThis case report detailed the diagnosis and treatment course of internal carotid artery PSA after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which enhanced the understanding of this emergency, and provided valuable information and experience for the treatment strategy of similar PSA on the internal carotid artery.

Traumatic Radial Artery Pseudoaneurysm: Vein Graft Repair through a Single Incision.

Project description:Radial artery pseudoaneurysms are rare clinical entities usually occurring after penetrating trauma or iatrogenic injury. The radial artery is the least common location for peripheral artery pseudoaneurysms, and no clear standard of treatment exists. We present a case of an adolescent male who developed a radial artery pseudoaneurysm after slitting his wrists. Using a single incision, the radial artery pseudoaneurysm was excised and repaired using a reversed venae comitantes interposition graft. This single incision technique for radial artery pseudoaneurysm repair preserves the dual arterial supply to the hand, which is of particular importance in young patients.
