Transfer RNAs (tRNAs) are ubiquitous adapter molecules that link specific codons in messenger RNA (mRNA) with their corresponding amino acids during protein synthesis. The tRNA genes of Drosophila have been investigated for over half a century but have lacked systematic identification and nomenclature.
