Draft Genome Sequence of a Lanthanide-Responsive Bacterium, Bradyrhizobium sp. Strain Ce-3.

ABSTRACT: We present the draft genome sequence of Bradyrhizobium sp. strain Ce-3, which produced exopolysaccharide (EPS) and oxidized methanol in the presence of Ce³⁺. The genome for strain Ce-3 was estimated at 7,608,996 bp and showed that the strain is closely related to Bradyrhizobium erythrophlei MT12 and Bradyrhizobium sp. strain C9.

Project description:Chromobacterium sp. strain C-61 is a plant-associated bacterium with proven capacities to suppress plant diseases. Here, we report the draft genome sequence and automatic annotation of strain C-61. A comparison of this sequence to the sequenced genome of Chromobacterium violaceum ATCC 12472 indicates the novelty of C-61 and a subset of gene functions that may be related to its biocontrol activities.

Draft Genome Sequence of the Marine Bacterium Alteromonas sp. Strain KS69.

Project description:Alteromonas spp. are Gram-negative, aerobic, marine bacteria. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Alteromonas sp. strain KS69, isolated from Narragansett Bay deep water samples. Unpublished preliminary data suggest that KS69 reduces expression of the 3-oxo-C12-HSL-dependent, virulence-associated gene lasB of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1, suggesting that it produces a quorum sensing inhibitor.

With a genome size of 7,621,400 bp, the strain harbored genes not only for environmentally beneficial traits (e.g., heavy metal resistance, nitrogen fixation, and aromatic biodegradation) but also for antimicrobial resistance.
