ABSTRACT: The mol-ecule of the title compound, C₃₀H₂₂N₄, exhibits inversion symmetry adopting the shape of a St Andrew's Cross. It shows dihedral angles between adjacent aryl units of around 50° whereas torsion angles of ca 10° are found along the aryl-ene vinyl-ene path.

Project description:The title compound, C(22)H(26)N(4), was prepared from p-dimethyl-amino-propiophenone in six steps. The mol-ecule has no crystallographic symmetry. The dihedral angles between the pyrazine ring and the phenyl rings are 35.81 (6) and 37.11 (8)°. The dimethyl-amino groups are essentially planar (sum of the bond angles at N = 359.3 and 359.9°) and nearly coplanar with the adjacent aromatic ring [dihedral angles = 5.54 (11) and 7.40 (3)°]. This effect and the short aniline C-N bonds can be rationalised in terms of charge transfer from the amino groups to the central pyrazine ring.

Project description:In the title compound, (C(24)H(18)N(6))[AuCl(4)](2), the cation is located on an inversion center. Each of the two independent Au(III) ions lies on an inversion center and has a distorted square-planar geometry. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.5548 (16) and 3.7507 (16) Å] and Au⋯π inter-actions [Au⋯centroid distance = 3.6424 (10) Å] are effective in the stabilization of the structure, resulting in the formation of a supra-molecular structure. Intra-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are present in the cation.

Project description:In the title complex, the central PdII ion has an N4 square-planar coordination geometry defined by the four N atoms of two bidentate 2,3-di-2-pyridylpyrazine ligands. The title compound, [Pd(C14H10N4)2](NO3)2·CH3CN, consists of a cationic PdII complex, two anions and one lattice solvent molecule, all in general positions. In the complex, the PdII cation is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry defined by the four N atoms of two bidentate 2,3-di-2-pyridylpyrazine ligands. The complex, anions and solvent molecule are linked by weak C—H⋯O intermolecular hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, the complex molecules are stacked in columns along the a axis.

Project description:The title compound, C(26)H(30)N(4), was prepared by condensation of tetra-methyl-pyrazine and dimethyl-amino-benzaldehyde and crystallizes from chloro-form/methanol in two different forms. Block-shaped crystals belong to the monoclinic crystal system and plates to the triclinic system. The two crystal forms differ in the arrangement of the centrosymmetric mol-ecules, which have nearly identical geometries. In the monoclinic crystals reported here, planar mol-ecules [maximum deviation = 0.062 (2) Å], with a transoid arrangement of the (E)-styryl units and completely planarized dimethylamino groups [sum of the C-N bond angles = 359.9 (2)°], form layers connected via H-π-stacking. The dihedral angle between the central and pendant rings is 1.30 (8)°. The triclinic polymorph contains two half molecules, both completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry.

Project description:The components of the title 1:1 co-crystal, C(14)H(10)N(4)·C(6)F(4)I(2), are connected via an N⋯I [2.959 (4) Å] halogen bond, in which the N atom is part of the relatively electron-rich pyrazine ring. The C(6)F(4)I(2) mol-ecule is almost planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.038 Å] but there are significant twists in the pyrazine derivative, as seen in the dihedral angles [31.3 (2) and 54.6 (2)°] formed between the pendant pyridyl rings and the central pyrazine ring. The bimolecular aggregates are sustained in the crystal by C-H⋯F and π-π inter-actions [ring centroid(pyrid-yl)-ring centroid(benzene) = 3.678 (3) Å].

Project description:The heterocyclic molecule in the title solvate, C16H14N4·2CHCl3, possesses inversion symmetry, with the inversion centre situated at the centre of the pyrazine ring. The outer pyridine rings are inclined to the central pyrazine ring by 4.89 (9)°. The compound crystallized as a chloro-form disolvate with the solvent mol-ecules linked to the title mol-ecule by C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules are further linked by π-π inter-actions involving the pyrazine and pyridine rings of neighbouring mol-ecules [inter-centroid distance = 3.5629 (12) Å; symmetry code: x, y + 1, z + 1].

Project description:In the title mononuclear complex, [Ag(C(9)H(7)N(3)S)(2)]BF(4), the Ag(I) ion adopts a virtually linear coordination geometry [N-Ag-N = 178.06 (11)°] with the two ligands bound to the metal atom via the pyridine N atoms. The metal-coordinated pyridine rings are almost coplanar, making a dihedral angle of 1.5 (2)°, while the two pendent pyrazine rings are arranged on the same side of the N-Ag-N line. Along the a axis, the mononuclear coordination units are stacked with π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.569 (4) Å], leading to infinite chains. The chains are inter-connected through inter-molecular N(pyrazine)⋯π(pyrazine) inter-actions forming layers parallel to the ab plane [N⋯centroid = 3.268 (5) Å]. These layers are further stacked along the c-axis direction, furnishing a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework with the tetra-fluoridoborate anions embedded within the inter-stices.

Project description:The title compound, C(28)H(34)N(2)O(8)S(2), was synthesized as part of a project to develop synthetic routes to analogues of sporidesmins, a class of secondary metabolite produced by the filamentous fungi Chaetomium and Pithomyces sp. The complete molecule is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry: the methoxy group is essentially coplanar with the benzene ring to which it is bonded, a mean plane fitted through the non-H atoms of the aromatic ring and the meth-oxy group having an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0140 Å. Similarly, the ester group is also essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation of a plane fitted through all non-H atoms is 0.0101 Å). There is only one independent C-H⋯O inter-action, which links together adjacent mol-ecules into a two-dimensional sheet in the bc plane.
