[2,2'-Bis(di-phenyl-phosphan-yl)-1,1'-binaphthyl-κ² P,P']di-chlorido-platinum(II) acetonitrile trisolvate.

ABSTRACT: The crystal structure (150 K) of the racemic title compound, [PtCl₂(C₄₄H₃₂P₂)]·3CH₃CN, has been determined. The asymmetric unit comprises a single mol-ecule of the title compound co-crystallized with three aceto-nitrile solvent mol-ecules. Four mol-ecules are observed in the unit cell, with R and S enanti-omers present in a 2:2 ratio. Evidence of intra-molecular π-stacking is observed with no discernable inter-molecular inter-actions.

Project description:In the title complex, [CuCl(2)(C(24)H(24)N(2)O(2))], the Cu(II) cation is N,N',O-chelated by a 2,2'-(1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diyldiimino)-diethanol ligand and coordinated by two chloride anions in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. In the diethanol ligand, the two naphthalene ring systems are twisted with respect to each other at a dihedral angle of 68.30 (9)°. The uncoord-inated hy-droxy group links with a coordinated chloride anion via an intra-molecular O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bond. Inter-molecular N-H⋯O and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds occur in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, C(30)H(20)N(2)O(2), the orientation of the furyl group may induce a variety of coordination modes with this ligand. The dihedral angle between the two naphthyl rings is 79.25 (7)°. The furyl groups make dihedral angles of 62.0 (1) and 16.3 (2)° with the attached naphthyl groups. The dihedral angle between the two furyl rings is 49.3 (2)°.

New Bifunctional Bis(azairidacycle) with Axial Chirality via Double Cyclometalation of 2,2'-Bis(aminomethyl)-1,1'-binaphthyl.

Project description:As a candidate for bifunctional asymmetric catalysts containing a half-sandwich C-N chelating Ir(III) framework (azairidacycle), a dinuclear Ir complex with an axially chiral linkage is newly designed. An expedient synthesis of chiral 2,2'-bis(aminomethyl)-1,1'-binaphthyl (1) from 1,1-bi-2-naphthol (BINOL) was accomplished by a three-step process involving nickel-catalyzed cyanation and subsequent reduction with Raney-Ni and KBH4. The reaction of (S)-1 with an equimolar amount of [IrCl2Cp*]2 (Cp* = η5-C5(CH3)5) in the presence of sodium acetate in acetonitrile at 80 °C gave a diastereomeric mixture of new dinuclear dichloridodiiridium complexes (5) through the double C-H bond cleavage, as confirmed by 1H NMR spectroscopy. A loss of the central chirality on the Ir centers of 5 was demonstrated by treatment with KOC(CH3)3 to generate the corresponding 16e amidoiridium complex 6. The following hydrogen transfer from 2-propanol to 6 provided diastereomers of hydrido(amine)iridium retaining the bis(azairidacycle) architecture. The dinuclear chlorido(amine)iridium 5 can serve as a catalyst precursor for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone with a substrate to a catalyst ratio of 200 in the presence of KOC(CH3)3 in 2-propanol, leading to (S)-1-phenylethanol with up to an enantiomeric excess (ee) of 67%.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(6)H(16)N(+)·C(20)H(12)O(4)P(-), an N-H⋯O inter-action links the cation to the anion. The N atom in the triethyl-ammonium cation exhibits a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry and forms an N-H⋯O inter-action with one phosphate O atom of the 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diyl phosphate ligand. A bifurcated C-H⋯O inter-action with the other phosphate O atom links molecules along the a axis. The dihedral angle between the two naphthyl ring systems is 58.92 (3)°. The refined Flack parameter value of 0.50 (10) indicates inversion twinning.

Project description:In the title co-crystal, C(22)H(14)O(4)·CH(4)N(2)O, the 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-dicarboxylic acid (BNDA) and urea mol-ecules are connected via a system of hydrogen bonds into a chiral two-dimensional polymeric structure parallel to the (001) plane. As the crystal is centrosymmetric, it consists of alternately stacked BNDA-urea layers of opposite chirality. The urea H atoms trans to the C=O group are bonded in a chelating mode [R(1) (2)(6)] to the carbonyl O atom from one of the carboxylic acid groups which, in turn, acts as the donor of an O-H⋯O hydrogen bond to another urea mol-ecule.
