The human extracellular calcium-sensing (CaS) receptor controls plasma Ca<sup>2+</sup> levels and contributes to nutrient-dependent maintenance and metabolism of diverse organs. Allosteric modulation of the CaS receptor corrects disorders of calcium homeostasis.
