Characterising the urinary acylcarnitine and amino acid profiles of HIV/TB co-infection, using LC-MS metabolomics
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to characterise the urinary profiles of acylcarnitines and amino acids, including 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA), in patients co-infected with HIV and TB. By employing targeted liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS), we identified specific metabolic disturbances that contribute to the complex pathophysiology of this co-infection.
