Complete Genome Sequences of Lytic Bacteriophages of Xanthomonas arboricola pv. juglandis.

Project description:Three bacteriophages, f20-Xaj, f29-Xaj, and f30-Xaj, with lytic activity against Xanthomonas arboricola pv. juglandis were isolated from walnut trees (VIII Bío Bío Region, Chile). These lytic bacteriophages have double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) genomes of 43,851 bp, 41,865 bp, and 44,262 bp, respectively. These are the first described bacteriophages with lytic activity against X. arboricola pv. juglandis that can be utilized as biocontrol agents.

Project description:Here, we report the complete genome sequences of two strains of Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris (MAFF106712 and MAFF302021), which cause black rot in crucifer crops, isolated from Chinese cabbage and cauliflower, respectively, in Japan. The MAFF106712 chromosome was 5,002,720 bp, with a G+C content of 65.2%, and harbored one plasmid of 78,747 bp. The MAFF302021 chromosome was 5,048,651 bp, with a G+C content of 65.1%.

Project description:Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae is the etiological agent of bacterial rice blight. Three distinct clades of X. oryzae pv. oryzae are known. We present the complete annotated genome of the African clade strain AXO194 using long-read single-molecule PacBio sequencing technology. The genome comprises a single chromosome of 4,674,975 bp and encodes for nine transcriptional activator-like (TAL) effectors. The approach and data presented in this announcement provide information for complex bacterial genome organization and the discovery of new virulence effectors, and they facilitate target characterization of TAL effectors.

Some strains hosted chromosomally encoded transcription activator-like effector (TALE) genes, an atypical feature for this bacterium.
