Selective uptake of alloxan by pancreatic B-cells.


ABSTRACT: Alloxan rapidly binds to or accumulates in pancreatic B-cells as distinct from non-B-cells. The selective uptake of this cytotoxic agent by the insulin-producing B-cells might account for its well-known diabetogenic effect.
