The bacterial genus Gordona includes seven species of mycolic acid-containing actinomycetes which are cultured from environmental sources and rarely from clinical samples. They have been implicated in primary pulmonary diseases, nosocomial wound infections, and central nervous system infections in two immunocompromised patients.
