Although ATP is the most common phosphoryl group donor for kinases, some kinases from certain hyperthermophilic archaea such as Pyrococcus horikoshii and Thermococcus litoralis use ADP as the phosphoryl donor. Those are ADP-dependent glucokinases (ADPGK) and phosphofructokinases in their glycolytic pathway.
