Redetermination of dicerium(III) tris-(sulfate) tetra-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: Ce(2)(SO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4) was obtained hydro-thermally from an aqueous solution of cerium(III) oxide, trimethyl-amine and sulfuric acid. The precision of the structure determination has been significantly improved compared with the previous result [Dereigne (1972 ?). Bull. Soc. Fr. Mineral. Cristallogr.95, 269-280]. The coordination about the two Ce atoms is achieved by seven and six bridging O atoms from sulfate anions. Each S atom makes four S-O-Ce linkages through bridging O atoms. The coordination sphere of each Ce is completed by two water molecules, which act as terminal ligands.

The In(III) ion is six-coordinated and forms a quasi-regular octa-hedral arrangement. In the crystal, alternating layers of cations and anions are arranged parallel to (10[Formula: see text]) and are linked with the water mol-ecules via intra- and inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a complex three-dimensional network. Additional stabilization within the layers is provided by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(3)]Cl(3)·4H(2)O, contains discrete [Co(bpy)(3)](3+) cations (bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine), Cl(-) anions and water mol-ecules. The [Co(bpy)(3)](3+) complex cation exhibits C(2) symmetry with the twofold axis through the central Co atom and bis-ecting one bpy ligand and one of the Cl(-) anions. The four solvent water mol-ecules and the remaining two Cl(-) anions lie on a mirror plane. Hydrogen-bond inter-actions define a two-dimensional layer structure parallel to (100), which consists of seven-membered [Cl(2)(H(2)O)(5)], eight-membered [Cl(4)(H(2)O)(4)] and ten-membered [Cl(2)(H(2)O)(8)] rings.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)](CO(3))I·4H(2)O, crystallizes with a [Co(en)(3)](3+) cation (en is ethane-1,2-diamine), CO(3) (2-) and I(-) anions and four water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. In the cation, the three rings formed by the ethyl-enediamine units and the Co(III) metal ion are in slightly distorted twist conformations. Numerous O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, N-H⋯I and O-H⋯I inter-molecular hydrogen bonds between the cation and two anions in concert with the four water mol-ecules dominate the crystal packing and create a supra-molecular infinite three-dimensional framework.

The [Co(CN)6](3-) anion exhibits an octa-hedral geometry. In the structure, cations and anions are linked alternatively through O-H?O, O-H?N, N-H?O and N-H?N hydrogen bonds, ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.523?(2)-4.099?(2)?Å] and van der Waals forces, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the title hybrid salt, (C7H11N2)3[Cr(C2O4)3]·4H2O, the central Cr(III) ion of the complex anion (point group symmetry 2) is coordinated by six O atoms from three chelating oxalate(2-) ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere. The Cr-O bond lengths vary from 1.9577?(11) to 1.9804?(11)?Å, while the chelate O-Cr-O angles range from 82.11?(6) to 93.41?(5)°. The 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium cations (one situated in a general position and one on a twofold rotation axis) are protonated at the pyridine N atoms. In the crystal, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the cations and anions into a three-dimensional network. ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings of adjacent cations provide additional stabilization of the crystal packing, with the closest centroid-to-centroid distances being 3.541?(1) and 3.575?(1)?Å.

There are three N-[(anthracen-9-yl)-methyl-ene-amino]-thio-ureate ligands coordinated to the Co(III) atom via three imine N and three thio-amide S atoms. The Co-S and Co-N bond distances are in expected ranges [2.2194?(8)-2.2545?(8) and 1.926?(2)-1.985?(2)Å, respectively]. The endocyclic S-Co-N bond angles in the five-membered chelate rings range from 82.91?(7) to 85.33?(7)°. The structure contains four water mol-ecules which are disordered over 12 sites and link the complex mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network through N-H?O, O-H?O, O-H?N, and O-H?S hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title terbium coordination polymer, {[Tb(2)(C(6)H(8)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]·0.25H(2)O}(n), the Tb(III) atom is nine-coordinated, forming a TbO(9) polyhedra. Furthermore, two symmetric TbO(9) polyhedra share their edges, forming Tb(2)O(16) dimers, which are linked by adipate bridges into a layered structure. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link these layers into a three-dimensional network. One of the C atoms of the adipate ligand is disordered over two positions with site-occupancy factors of 0.622?(9) and 0.378?(9). The structure also contains a disordered mol-ecule of water of hydration, lying close to a special position, with partial occupancy.

Project description:A low-temperature redetermination of the trinuclear cluster compound described as [Cr(3)(C(2)H(2)ClO(2))(6)O(H(2)O)(3)]NO(3)·3H(2)O [Glowiak, Kubiak & Jezowska-Trzebiatowska (1977 ?). Bull. Acad. Pol. Sci. Ser. Sci. Chim.25, 359-371] shows that the salt is a 3.5-hydrate, [Cr(3)(C(2)H(2)ClO(2))(6)O(H(2)O)(3)]NO(3)·3.5H(2)O. The trinuclear cluster cation is disordered in four of the six monochloro-acetate groups. One is disordered over two positions in respect of the chloro-methyl atoms (occupancy ratio 0.50:0.50); another is disordered over three positions in respect of the chloro-methyl atoms (occupancy ratio 0.50:0.37:0.13) whereas two are disordered over two positions in respect of the Cl atoms only (occupancy ratios 0.84:0.16 and 0.60:0.40). Of the four independent uncoordinated water mol-ecules, one has an occupancy factor of 0.5. The trinuclear cation has an oxido O atom that is connected to three water-coordinated Cr(III) atoms, the three metal atoms forming the points of an equilateral triangle. Six carboxyl-ate groups each chelate a Cr-O-Cr fragment. The cations, anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules are linked by hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ni(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)][Cr(2)O(7)]·4H(2)O, contains one cation, one anion and four water mol-ecules, three of which are disordered over two sites with equal occupancies. In the cation, the metal centre is coordinated by six N atoms from three 1,10-phenanthroline ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The [Cr(2)O(7)](2-) anion exhibits a staggered conformation. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions, evidenced by short distances of 3.531?(5)?Å between the centroids of aromatic rings.
