ABSTRACT: The complete molecule of the title compound, C(5)H(6)O(4)S(3), is generated by crystallographic twofold symmetry with the C=S group lying on the rotation axis. The molecules are linked through weak hydrogen-bond contacts by glide-plane operations to form R(2) (2)(20) rings and ladder-like C(4) chains along the c axis.

Project description:The cation of the title salt, (C(14)H(10)NS(2))[FeBr(4)], contains a flat central NC(2)S(2) ring (r.m.s. deviation = 0.005 Å), with two attached phenyl rings that are almost coplanar [the dihedral angles between the mean planes are 2.4 (1) and 7.7 (1)° for the two phenyl rings]. The [FeBr(4)](-) anion makes short Br⋯S contacts [Br⋯S = 3.4819 (8), 3.6327 (9) and 3.5925 (9) Å] and also bridges by way of short contacts to ring H atoms of a second cation held parallel to the first by π-stacking, with a separation between the mean 1,2,4-dithia-zolium rings of 3.409 Å. The closest contacts are between a phenyl ring centroid of one cation and the ipso C atom of the phenyl ring of another cation, for which the distance is 3.489 Å. The discrete dimers are linked laterally by further Br⋯H short contacts, resulting in double sheets located parallel to the b axis and to the bis-ector of a and c.

Benzylammonium hepta-noate-hepta-noic acid (1/1).

Project description:The title salt, C7H10N(+)·C7H13O2(-)·C7H14O2, is an unusual 2:1 stoichiometric combination of two carb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecules and one amine. Although there are crystal structures of a number of 1:1 complexes reported in the literature, 2:1 acid amine complexes are rather uncommon. In this case, a proton is transferred between one acid mol-ecule and the amine to give an acid anion and an ammonium cation whilst the other carb-oxy-lic acid remains protonated. The species inter-act strongly via electrostatic forces and hydrogen bonds. In addition we note that the N atom of the ammonium group makes four close contacts to surrounding O atoms. Three of these are hydrogen bonds with neighbouring acid anions while the fourth does not involve a hydrogen atom but is directed towards the carbonyl O atom of the protonated acid. Each of the acid anion O atoms accepts two hydrogen bonds from adjacent N atoms. There is also evidence of short C-H?O contacts. There is disorder (occupancy ratio 0.51:0.49) in the alkyl chain of one of the carb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecules.

Project description:The title compound, C(23)H(18)N(2)O(2)·0.5H(2)O, a derivative of the biologically active compound curcumin, crystallizes with two organic mol-ecules and a solvent water mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. Each of the two independent mol-ecules is close to being planar (the dihedral angles between the indole ring systems are approximately 9 and 12°) and each exists in the keto-enol form. There is an intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond between the keto and enol groups. In the crystal, the components interact by way of N-H?N, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, disodium 2-amino-6-oxo-6,7-di-hydro-1H-purine-1,7-diide hepta-hydrate, 2Na(+)·C5H3N5O(2-)·7H2O, the structure is composed of alternating (100) layers of guanine mol-ecules and hydrated Na(+) ions. Within the guanine layer, the mol-ecules are arranged in centrosymmetric pairs, with a partial overlap between the guanine rings. In this compound, guanine exists as the amino-keto tautomer from which deprotonation from N1 and N7 has occurred (purine numbering). There are no direct inter-actions between the Na(+) cations and the guanine anions. Guanine mol-ecules are linked to neighboring water mol-ecules by O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a network structure.

The Rb(+) cation is nine-coordinated by O atoms from four 3,5-dinitro-benzoate anions and three neutral 3,5-dinitro-benzoic acid ligands. The metal atom is firstly linked by four bridging carboxyl groups, forming a binuclear motif, which is further linked by the nitro groups into a two-dimensional framework along the [110] direction. A short O-H?O hydrogen bond between two adjacent carboxy/carboxylate groups occurs.

In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked via weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along the a-axis direction. The chains are linked by C-H?? inter-actions, forming two-dimensional networks lying parallel to the ac plane.

Enantioselective Synthesis of Dithia[5]helicenes and their Postsynthetic Functionalization to Access Dithia[9]helicenes.

Project description:A highly enantioselective synthesis of 5,13-disubstituted dibenzo[d,d']benzo[1,2-b:4,3-b']dithiophenes is reported. Key for the successful assembly of these helical architectures is the last two successive Au-catalyzed intramolecular alkyne hydroarylation events. Specifically, the second cyclization is the enantiodetermining step of the whole process and provides the desired helicenes with excellent ee values when a TADDOL-derived 1,2,3-(triazolium)phosphonite moiety (TADDOL: α,α,α',α'-tetraaryl-1,3-dioxolane-4,5-dimethanol) is employed as an ancillary ligand. The absolute stereochemistry of the newly prepared structures has been determined by X-ray crystallography to be P; the optical properties of these heterohelicenes are also reported. A three-step procedure was subsequently developed that allows the transformation of the initially obtained dithia[5]helicenes into dithia[9]helicenes without erosion of the enantiopurity.
