Bis(diethyl-enetriamine-?N,N',N'')nickel(II) bis-(1,2-dicyanoethene-1,2-dithiolato-?S,S')nickel(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Ni(C(4)H(13)N(3))(2)][Ni(C(4)N(2)S(2))(2)], has been synthesized by the reaction of Ni(ClO(4))(2)·6H(2)O, diethyl-enetriamine (deta) and Na(2)[Ni(mnt)(2)] [mnt = maleonitrile-dithiol-ate(2-)] in methanol. The structure is composed of a [Ni(deta)(2)](2+) cation and a [Ni(mnt)(2)](2-) anion. The coordination geometry of the Ni(II) ion in the cation is slightly distorted octa-hedral, defined by six N atoms from two deta ligands, while the Ni(II) ion in the anion is four-coordinated by four S atoms from two mnt ligands in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry. The cations and anions are connected by N-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title binuclear compound, [W(2)Cl(6)(NO)(2)(C(10)H(22)P(2))(3)], contains two W atoms which are bridged by a bis-(diethyl-phosphino)-ethane (depe) ligand. The seven-coord-inated tungsten(II) centres display distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometries with trans nitrosyl and chloride ligands. The title mol-ecule lies on a crystallographic inversion centre. The ethane group of the non-bridging depe ligand is positionally disordered, with site-occupancy factors of 0.63 and 0.37. In the crystal structure, the binuclear mol-ecules are linked by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. In addition, weak intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl inter-actions are also present.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Ni(C(6)H(16)N(2))(2)]Br(2) or [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)]Br(2) (Et(2)en is asymmetric N,N-diethyl-ethylene-diamine), containing an Ni(II) atom (site symmetry ) in square-planar NiN(4) coordination, is described and contrasted with related structures containing Ni(II) in octa-hedral coordination with axial X(-) ligands (X(-) = variable anions). The dialkyl-ated N atom has an appreciably longer bond length to the Ni(II) atom [1.9666?(13)?Å] than does the unsubstituted N atom [1.9202?(14)?Å]. The Ni-N bond lengths in [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)]Br(2) are significantly shorter than corresponding values in tetra-gonally distorted [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)X(2)] compounds (X = (-)O(2)CCF(3), OH(2), or (-)NCS), which have a triplet ground state. The electronic configuration in these axially ligated [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)X(2)] compounds populates the metal-based d(x) (2) (-y) (2) orbital, which is Ni-N anti-bonding in character. Each Et(2)en ligand in each [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)](2+) cation forms a pair of N-H?Br hydrogen bonds to the Br(-) anions, one above and below the NiN(4) square plane. Thus, a ribbon of alternating Br(-) pairs and [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)](2+) cations that are canted at 65° relative to one another is formed by hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(S2C2(C6H4-p-Cl)2)2] or [Ni(C14H8Cl2S2)2], crystallizes in the triclinic space group P as pairs of mol-ecules disposed about an inversion center at the bc face of the cell. Close inter-molecular C-H⋯S (2.884 Å) and C-H⋯Ni (3.032 Å) contacts that are less than the sum of the van der Waals radii appear to induce slight bowing of the mol-ecular planes toward one another. The angles at which the four p-ClC6H4- rings join the NiS2C2 chelate rings [39.37 (9)- 53.41 (6)°] are similarly influenced by these inter-molecular contacts. In the larger packing arrangement, sheets of mol-ecules extend in the direction of the ac face diagonal.

The coordination geometry is slightly distorted octa-hedral, with four O atoms in the equatorial plane and two N atoms in axial positions. Intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into chains along the a axis by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The structure is further stabilized by ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings of DENA units, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.668?(2)?Å.

Project description:The centrosymmetric title complex, [Ni{S(2)P(OC(2)H(5))(2)}(2)], has been redetermined using area-detector data. The central Ni(S(2)P)(2) core is essentially planar and confirms the early results of McConnell & Kastalsky [Acta Cryst. (1967), 22, 853-859] based on multiple film technique data. In the title structure, the standard uncertainty values are approximately seven times lower and all H-atom positions are calculated. A pair of short symmetry-related H?H contacts with distances of 2.33?Å is observed in the crystal structure.

The Ni(II) atom is displaced by 0.681?(1)?Å out of the least-squares plane of the carboxyl-ate group. The dihedral angle between the carboxyl-ate group and the adjacent benzene ring is 5.61?(7)°, while the pyridine and benzene rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 73.20?(4)°. An intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond results in the formation of a six-membered ring with a twisted conformation. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. Two weak C-H?? inter-actions are also present.
