ABSTRACT: The title complex, bis-(?-benzene-18-crown-6)-3?(6)O:4?O;4?(6)O:3?O-bis-(benzene-18-crown-6)-1?(6)O,6?(6)O-tetra-?-thiocyanato-1:2?(2)S:N;2:3?(2)N:S;4:5?(2)S:N;5:6?(2)N:S-dithio-cyanato-2?N,5?N-2,5-dicopper(I)-1,3,4,6-tetra-potassium(I), [K(4)Cu(2)(NCS)(6)(C(16)H(24)O(6))(4)] or {[K(C(16)H(24)O(6))](4)[Cu(NCS)(3)](2)}, consists of four [K(benzene-18-crown-6)](+) cations and two [Cu(NCS)(3)](2-) anions, forming a dimeric structure with site symmetry . In each [Cu(NCS)(3)](2-) anion, the Cu(I) atom is coordinated by three N atoms of thio-cyanate ligands in a trigonal-planar coordination geometry. Each [Cu(NCS)(3)](2-) anion bridges two [K(benzene-18-crown-6)](+) cations, with K-S distances of 3.317?(3) and 3.198?(3)?Å, and two [K(benzene-18-crown-6)](+) cations are linked across a crystallographic centre of inversion, with K-O distances of 2.903?(5)?Å.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [K(C(3)H(3)N(2))(C(12)H(24)O(6))], is composed of a potassium cation bonded to the six O atoms of a crown ether mol-ecule and the two N atoms of a pyrazolate anion. The K?O distances range from 2.8416?(8) to 3.0025?(8)?Å, and the two K?N distances are 2.7441?(11) and 2.7654?(11)?Å. The K cation is displaced by 0.8437?(4)?Å from the best plane through the six O atoms. The latter plane is almost perpendicular to the plane of the pyrazolate ring [dihedral angle 83.93?(3)°].

Project description:Red crystals of the title salt, [K(C12H24O6)][Sb(C6H5)2], were obtained by the reaction of SbPh3, KSnBi and 18-crown-6 in liquid ammonia. The asymmetric unit contains one half of a [K(18-crown-6)](+) cation and one half of an SbPh2 (-) anion, with the central element lying on a twofold axis and a centre of inversion, respectively. In the crystal structure, the sequestered potassium cations show weak inter-actions with the ?-electrons of the phenyl groups of the SbPh2 (-) anion [shortest K?C distances = 3.190?(2) and 3.441?(2)?Å], leading to one-dimensional strands along the crystallographic c axis. These strands are aligned in a pseudo-hexa-gonal packing perpendicular to the ab plane.

Project description:The crystal and mol-ecular strutures of two solvated forms of [K(18c6)]OAc (18c6 = 18-crown-6 = 1,4,7,10,13,16-hexa-oxa-cyclo-octa-decane and OAc = acetate) were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, namely (acetato-?2O,O')(1,4,7,10,13,16-hexa-oxa-cyclo-octa-decane-?6O)potassium dihydrate, [K(CH3COO)(C12H24O6)]·2H2O (1) and (acetato-?2O,O')aqua-(1,4,7,10,13,16-hexa-oxa-cyclo-octa-decane-?6O)potassium acetic acid monosolvate [K(CH3COO)(C12H24O6)(H2O)]·CH3COOH (2). In both compounds, the acetate anion is bonded to the potassium ion in a chelating fashion and the metal atom is consequently slightly displaced from the O6 plane of the crown ether. In the crystals, O-H?O hydrogen bonds lead to a polymeric ladder structure in the dihydrate 1, while the acetic acid hydrate 2 features inversion dimers.

Project description:In the title compound, K[Ag(C(11)H(12)N(2))(2)](2)(PF(6))(3), the 12-coordinate potassium cation lies on a crystallographic twofold axis and one of the hexa-fluoro-phosphate anions is generated by symmetry. In the complex cation, the Ag(I) ion is coordinated by two C atoms; the two imidazolium rings are orientated at a dihedral angle of 8.14?(14)°. In the 1-benzyl-3-methyl-imidazolium units, the dihedral angles between imidazolium and phenyl rings are 80.47?(15) and 76.53?(14)°. The F atoms of the general-position hexa-fluoro-phosphate anion are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.767?(17):0.233?(17) ratio. In the crystal, the hexa-fluoro-phosphate anions link the cations into three-dimensional networks via inter-molecular C-H?F hydrogen bonds and are further consolidated by ?-? stacking [centroid-centroid distances = 3.5518?(15)?Å] inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Fe(III)(C48H36N4O2)(H2O)2][K(C12H24O6)(H2O)2](SO3CF3)2·2C12H24O6, the Fe(III) atom is situated on an inversion centre and is octa-hedrally coordin-ated by four pyrrole N atoms of the deprotenated 5,10,15,20-tetra-kis-(4-meth-oxy-phen-yl)porphyrinate ligand and two water mol-ecules. The average equatorial Fe-N(pyrrole) bond length [2.043?(6)?Å] is consistent with a high-spin (S = 5/2) iron(III) metalloporphyrin derivative. The K(+) cation, which also lies on an inversion centre, is chelated by the six O atoms of one 18-crown-6 mol-ecule and is additionally coordinated by two water mol-ecules in a distorted hexa-gonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the crystal, the cations, anions and one non-coordinating 18-crown-6 mol-ecule are linked by classical O-H?O hydrogen bonds and non-conventional C-H?O hydrogen bonds, leading to a one-dimensional supra-molecular architecture along [10-1]. The crystal packing is further stabilized by weak C-H?? inter-actions involving pyrrole and phenyl rings of the porphyrins, as well as weak C-H?F contacts involving the (SO3CF3)(-) counter-ion and the 18-crown-6 mol-ecules.

Metabolism of inositol bis-, tris-, tetrakis- and pentakis-phosphates in GH3 cells.

Project description:Previous studies demonstrated a multiplicity of isomers of inositol phosphates in GH3 rat pituitary tumour cells. In order to determine their origin, we have investigated the metabolism of radiolabelled inositol phosphates (IPn) in GH3 cell homogenates by using h.p.l.c. I(1,4,5)P3 is either phosphorylated to I(1,3,4,5)P4 (in the presence of ATP) or dephosphorylated to I(1,4)P2 (in the absence of ATP). I(1,4)P2 is dephosphorylated to I(4)P (greater than 95%). I(1,3,4,5)P4 hydrolysis yields two products. By using dual-labelled [32P, 3H]I(1,3,4,5)P4 with 32P in either the 3 or the 4/5 position, we have identified the probable configuration of these isomers. The predominant (greater than 97%) IP3 formed is I(1,3,4)P3, with a minor I(1,4,5)P3 peak. Subsequent I(1,3,4)P3 hydrolysis yields two IP2 isomers [the major (approximately equal to 85%) is I(3,4)P2; the minor (approximately equal to 15%) is I(1,3)P2] and two IP isomers (the major (approximately equal to 90%) is I(3)P [L-I(1)P], the minor I(4)P). IP5 is very slowly dephosphorylated to and IP4 of undetermined isomeric configuration. We have also examined GH3 cell lipids for the presence of phosphoinositides either more highly phosphorylated than PIP2 (as potential sources of the IP4/IP5 and IP6 in these cells) or phosphorylated in positions other than 1, 4 and 5, and have been unable to find evidence of either. These data suggest two main routes of metabolism for I(1,4,5)P3 in GH3 cells: either (1) phosphorylation to I(1,3,4,5)P4, and the subsequent consecutive dephosphorylation to I(1,3,4)P3, I(3,4)P2 and finally L-I(1)P [D-I(3)P]; or (2) dephosphorylation to I(1,4)P2 and, subsequently, I(4)P.
