Project description:The title compound, C(14)H(13)NO(4), was prepared through a palladium-catalysed Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction. The asymmetric unit comprises two mol-ecules related by pseudo-inversion symmetry. The dihedral angles between the benzene rings in the two mol-ecules are 44.30?(6) and 48.50?(6)° while those between the benzene ring and the nitro group are 6.54?(13) and 5.73?(10)°. The crystal packing is defined only by Van der Waals inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, C(14)H(12)N(2)O(6), the half mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit of the cell is completed by a crystallographic twofold rotation axis, and the two benzene rings of the complete mol-ecule make a dihedral angle of 60.5?(3)°. Furthermore, inter-molecular weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds link adjacent mol-ecules, forming a two-dimensional sheet. These sheets are stablized by face-to-face weak ?-? contacts [centroid-centroid distance = 3.682?(1)?Å] between the nearly parallel [dihedral angle = 0.12?(7)°] benzene rings of the neighboring mol-ecules, resulting in a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C18H20Cl2O2, consists of a half-mol-ecule, the other half being generated by an inversion center, located at the mid-point of the benzene-benzene bond. Except for the two Cl atoms, all other atoms of the compound are nearly coplanar, with the atomic displacements from the mol-ecular mean plane ranging from 0.0037 (19) to 0.071 (2) Å. The two Cl atoms are in trans positions and are displaced with respect to the mean plane by 1.687 (2) and -1.693 (3) Å. The crystal packing is governed by van der Waals inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(6)N(4)O(8), is a biphenyl system that was synthesized as a building block for a new series of anti-malarial compounds. The aromatic rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 45.5?(2)°, and inter-molecular short O?O contacts form a chain along the b axis. The strength of the inter-actions involved in this chain cause one of the rings to be slightly distorted, with the torsion angle between the nitro groups being 23.4?(2)°, whereas, in the other ring, both nitro systems are parallel, forming an angle of 9.6?(2)° with the plane of the aromatic ring to which they are bound. Furthermore, the three ring C atoms around the ring-ring linkage belong to a plane inclined by 4.5?(1)° in relation to the plane containing the other three C atoms, i.e. (NO(2)-)C-C-C(NO(2)). This distortion of the ring causes uncommonly short intermolecular O?O [3.038?(2)?Å] and O?C [3.000?(4) and 3.214?(1)?Å] contacts.
