ABSTRACT: In the title mononuclear complex, [Cu(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(7)H(6)N(2))(2)], the Cu(II) atom lies on an inversion centre and is coordinated by two O atoms of two monodentate 4-methyl-benzoate ligands and two N atoms of two benzimidazole ligands in a square-planar geometry. The mol-ecules are linked into chains running parallel to the b axis by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds and by ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.669?(2)?Å] involving centrosymmetrically related imidazole rings.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(2)(C(7)H(5)O(3))(4)(C(7)H(6)N(2))(4)][Ni(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(7)H(6)N(2))(2)]·6H(2)O, is a mononuclear/dinuclear nickel(II) cocrystal, the two mol-ecular species inter-acting through hydrogen bonds that involve the uncoordinated water mol-ecules. In the mononuclear species, the Ni(II) ion, located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two 1H-benzimidazole (bzim) ligands and two 3-hydroxy-benzoate (hba) anions in a square-planar geometry. In the centrosymmetric dinuclear species, the Ni(II) ion is coordinated by two bzim ligands and three hba anions in a square-pyramidal geometry; of the two independent hba anions, one bridges two Ni(II) ions with both carboxylate and hydroxyl groups whereas the other coordin-ates in a unidentate manner to the Ni(II) ion. The apical Ni-O(hydrox-yl) bond is 0.39?Å longer than the basal Ni-O(carbox-yl) bonds. The face-to-face separation of 3.326?(9)?Å indicates the existence of ?-? stacking between parallel bzim ligands of adjacent dinuclear entities. Extensive N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds help to stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, the Cu(II) ion is located on a crystallographic inversion center. The asymmetric unit is completed by one 4-methyl-benzoate anion, one isonicotinamide (INA) ligand and one uncoordinated water mol-ecule; all the ligands are monodentate. The two O and the two N atoms around the Cu(II) ion form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement. The dihedral angle between the carboxyl-ate group and the attached benzene ring is 13.86?(9)°, while the pyridine and benzene rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 86.08?(5)°. The uncoordinated water mol-ecules are linked to the INA ligands by O-H?O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(4)(C(10)H(9)N)(2)], the paddle-wheel-type dinuclear complex mol-ecule contains four bridging benzoate groups and two terminal 3-methyl-quinoline ligands. The asymmetric unit contains one and a half mol-ecules with a total of three independent Cu atoms; there is an inversion center at the mid-point of the Cu?Cu bond in one molecule. The octa-hedral coordination of each Cu atom, with four O atoms in the equatorial plane, is completed by an N atom of a 3-methyl-quinoline ligand [Cu-N = 2.190?(4)-2.203?(3)?Å] and by another Cu atom [Cu?Cu = 2.667?(1) and 2.6703?(7)?Å]. The Cu atoms are all ca 0.22?Å out of the plane of the four bonded O atoms.

One of the imidazole ligands is disordered over two positions with site-occupancy factors of 0.737?(4) and 0.263?(4).

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)(C(8)H(8)O(2))(2)], consists of centrosymmetric monomeric units, in which the Cu(II) atom has a tetra-gonally distorted octa-hedral coordination involving two imidazole N atoms and two carboxyl-ate O atoms in the square plane [Cu-N = 1.964?(3) and Cu-O = 1.960?(2)?Å] and 2-methyl-benzoic acid O atoms in axial sites [Cu-O = 2.753?(3)?Å]. Within the complex, the carb-oxy-lic acid forms intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, while the mol-ecules are assembled through N-H?O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bonds into chains extending along the a-axis direction. These chains are further linked by weak ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.930?(2)?Å].
