ABSTRACT: The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(20)H(32)O(4), is built up from three fused five-membered, six-membered and seven-membered rings. The five-membered ring has an envelope conformation, whereas the six- and seven-membered rings have chair conformations. The crystal structure is stabilized by strong inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The absolute configuration was assigned on the basis of earlier chemical studies.

In the mol-ecular structure, the central six-membered ring of the indolizine moiety adopts a chair conformation, with two atoms displaced by -0.578?(2) and 0.651?(1)?Å from the plane of the other four atoms [maximum deviation 0.019?(2)?Å] The conformation of the fused oxopyrrolidine ring is close to that of a flat envelope, with the flap atom displaced by 0.294?(1)?Å from the plane through the remaining four atoms. In the crystal, one of the hy-droxy groups is hydrogen-bonded to two water mol-ecules, while the other hy-droxy group exhibits an inter-molecular hydrogen bond to the carbonyl O atom, resulting in a chain parallel to the b axis.

Project description:Four independent mol-ecules (A-D) comprise the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C15H26O2, which differ only in the relative orientations of the terminal -C(Me)2OH groups [e.g. the range of Cmethyl-ene-Cmethine-Cquaternary-Ohy-droxy torsion angles is 52.7?(7)-57.1?(6)°, where the Cmethyl-ene atom is bound to an epoxide C atom]. The five-membered rings adopt envelope conformations, with the methyl-ene C atom adjacent to the methine C atom being the flap atom in each case. In each mol-ecule, the conformation of the seven-membered ring is a half-chair, with the Cmethyl-ene-Cmethine bond, flanked by methyl-ene C atoms, being the back of the chair. Supra-molecular helical chains along the b axis are found in the crystal packing, sustained by hy-droxy-epoxide O-H?O hydrogen bonding. Mol-ecules of A self-associate into a chain as do those of D. A third independent chain comprising B and C mol-ecules is also formed. The studied crystal is a pseudo-merohedral twin (minor component ca 21%).

Project description:The title compound, (NH(4))(3)[GaMo(6)(OH)(6)O(18)]·7H(2)O, contains two centrosymmetric GaMo(6) B-type Anderson cluster units consisting of central GaO(6) octa-hedra surrounded by a hexa-gonal assembly of MoO(6) edge-sharing octa-hedra. Like other B-type Anderson clusters, where the central Mo atom is substituted with a di- or trivalent metal ion, the central six μ(3)-oxido bridges are protonated. The average Ga-O bond length is 1.97 (1) Å, whereas the average Mo-O distances are 2.29 (2), 1.94 (1) and 1.709 (5) Å, respectively, for Mo-(μ(3)-OH), Mo-(μ(2)-O) and Mo=O bonds. In the crystal structure, the Ga(μ(3)-OH)(6)Mo(6)O(18) (3-) polyanionic clusters are surrounded by NH(4) (+) cations and solvent water mol-ecules, forming an extended network of hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C20H16O7, contains a cis-fused ?-lactone tetra-hydro-furan ring system functionalized with two benzo-yloxy groups. Both rings adopt an envelope conformation. The mol-ecule assumes an elongated shape and exibits non-crystallographic C 2 symmetry. The benzo-yloxy groups are almost planar [maximum deviations of 0.0491?(15) and 0.0336?(17)?Å for the O atoms] and their mean planes are inclined to one another by 16.51?(4)°. The crystal packing features weak C-H?O inter-actions.
