Aqua-(imino-diacetato-?O,N,O')(1,10-phenanthroline-?N,N')cobalt(II) monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: The imino-diacetate dianion in the title compound, [Co(C(4)H(5)NO(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O, chelates to the cobalt(II) atom, its N and two O atoms occupying the fac sites of the distorted octa-hedron around the metal atom. The metal atom is also chelated by the N-heterocycle. The dianion, and coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules inter-act through hydrogen bonds, generating a layer motif. The crystal studied was a racemic twin with a 0.62?(2):0.38?(2) domain ratio.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(9)H(8)NO(3))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)]NO(3)·H(2)O, the Co(II) atom is six-coordinated by a carboxylate O atom of the hippurate (Hc) anion, a water O atom and four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The uncoordinated O atom of the hippuric acid anion is involved in an intra-molecular hydrogen bond to the coordinated water mol-ecule. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the Hc anions, the coordinated water mol-ecule, the nitrate anion and the uncoordinated water mol-ecule.

The metal atom is also chelated by the N-heterocycle and coordinated by one water molecule, leading to a distorted octahedral environment. The dianion, and coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules inter-act through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network. One of the two uncoordinated water mol-ecules has half-site occupancy. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with a 15% twin component.

Inter-molecular O-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form an extensive three-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network, which consolidates the crystal packing.

Project description:In the title complex, [CoCl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)]Cl·2.5H(2)O, the Co(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms of two bis-chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, one water mol-ecule and a chloride ligand in a distorted octa-hedral environment. The dihedral angle between the two phen ligands is 84.21?(3)°. In the crystal structure, complex mol-ecules and chloride ions are linked into centrosymmetric four-component clusters by inter-molecular O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Of the 2.5 solvent water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, two were refined as disordered over two sites with fixed occupancies of ratios 0.50:0.50 and 0.60:0.40, while another was refined with half occupancy.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(17)H(14)O(6))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), the Co(II) atom is coordinated by a monodentate 4,4'-(propane-1,3-diyldi-oxy)dibenzoate (cpp) dianion, a water mol-ecule and a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand. A symmetry-generated cpp ligand completes the CoN(2)O(3) trigonal-bipyramidal geometry for the metal ion, with the N atoms occupying both equatorial and axial sites. The bridging cpp ligands form chains propagating in [110] and O-H?O hydrogen bonds consolidate the packing.
