Bis(imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline)dinitratolead(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Pb(NO(3))(2)(C(13)H(8)N(4))(2)], the Pb(II) atom (site symmetry 2) is hexa-coordinated by four N atoms from two N,N'-bidentate imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline (L) ligands and two O atoms from two weakly coordinated nitrate ions [Pb-O = 2.872?(5)?Å] in an irregular arrangement, which may be ascribed to the stereochemically active lone pair of electrons on the metal ion. In the crystal, inter-molecular bifurcated N-H?(O,O) hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules into chains propagating along [100]. Adjacent chains inter-act by strong aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.483?(2)?Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(C(8)H(4)NO(6))(2)(C(18)H(11)N(5))(2)], the Mn(II) atom is six-coordinated by two N,N'-bidentate 6-(pyridin-4-yl)-5H-cyclo-penta-[f][1,10]phenanthroline (pcp) ligands and two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two monodentate 3-carb-oxy-5-nitro-benzoate anions in a distorted cis-MnO(2)N(4) octa-hedral arrangement. Within the pcp ligands, the dihedral angles between the polycyclic skeletons and pendant pyridine rings are 6.2 (2) and 8.3 (2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Several aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions [shortest centroid-centroid separation = 3.516 (3) Å] are also observed.

Project description:The title dinuclear Fe(II) complex, [Fe(2)(SO(4))(2)(C(13)H(8)N(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O, is centrosymmetric. Two sulfate anions bridge two Fe(II) cations to form the binuclear complex. Each Fe(II) cation is coordinated by two N atoms from a 1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline (IP) ligand, two O atoms from two sulfate anions and two water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Extensive O-H?O, N-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure. Weak ?-? stacking is observed between parallel IP ring systems, the face-to-face separation being 3.428?(14)?Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(2)(SO(4))(2)(C(13)H(8)N(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O, the complete dimeric complex is generated by an inversion center. The Ni(II) atoms are octa-hedrally coordinated by two N atoms from one 1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline (IP) ligand and two O atoms from two adjacent sulfate ions forming the equatorial plane, with two coordinated water mol-ecules in the axial sites. Both of the sulfate ions act as bidentate-bridging ligands connecting the two Ni(II) ions, thus generating a binuclear complex. In the crystal structure, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules and N-H?O links lead to the formation of a two-dimensional sheet structure developing parallel to (010). Weak ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.613?(2)?Å] between the IP ligands also occur.

Project description:The Co(II) ion in the title complex, [Co(SO(4))(C(13)H(8)N(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n), has a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment formed by two O atoms from two symmetry-related bridging sulfate ligands, two N atoms from a bis-chelating 1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline (IPL) ligand and two O atoms from coordinated water mol-ecules. The bridging sulfate ligands connect Co(II) ions to form a one-dimensional chain along the b-axis direction. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the chains into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:There are two formula units in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(21)H(17)N(5)·1.5H(2)O. The imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phen-an-throline unit is almost coplanar with the benzene ring, the dihedral angles between them being 8.91?(5) and 4.93?(6)° in the two mol-ecules. The crystal structure is stabilized by a series of hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and the N atoms of the imidazophenanthroline groups.

The layers are further linked into a three-dimensional network through N-H?O hydrogen bonds. ?-? inter-actions between the IP ligands further stabilize the supra-molecular structure [centroid-centroid distances = 3.579?(3), 3.686?(3), 3.710?(3), 3.766?(3) and 3.841?(3)?Å].
