{Tris[2-(5-bromo-2-oxidobenzyl-idene-amino)eth-yl]amine}manganese(III).

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Mn(C(27)H(24)Br(3)N(4)O(3))], the Mn(III) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by three N atoms and three O atoms from the trianion of the hexa-dentate ligand tris-[2-(5-bromo-2-oxidobenzyl-idene-amino)eth-yl]amine. All three N (and O) atoms are cis to each other. The three N and the three O atoms are in a fac conformation among each other.

The three arms of the tripodal mol-ecule are located close to each other and an intra-molecular hydrogen bond occurs in each arm (O-H?N in two arms and N-H?O in the zwitterionic arm). The dihedral angles between the aromatic rings in the three arms are 16.36?(14), 23.94?(14) and, for the zwitterionic arm, 37.14?(14)°. In the crystal, a weak inter-moleclar N-H?O hydrogen bond occurs.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, {[Mn(C(20)H(10)Br(2)N(3)O(5))(H(2)O)]·(CH(3))(2)NCHO}(n), consists of one Mn(III) ion, one (E)-5-bromo-N-[2-(5-bromo-2-oxidobenzyl-idene-amino)-4-nitro-phen-yl]-2-oxidobenzamidate ligand (Schiff base), one water mol-ecule and an N,N-dimethyl-formamide mol-ecule. The coordination geometry around the Mn(III) ion is a distorted octa-hedron, being surrounded by two O and two N atoms from the Schiff base, which are positioned in the equatorial plane. The water mol-ecule and the O atom of the carbonyl group from the adjacent Mn(III) complex are situated at the axial positions, leading to a polymeric chain along the c axis. In the crystal, the complex and N,N-dimethyl-formamide mol-ecules are connected via O-H?O, C-H?O and C-H?Br hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The YbIII atom in the title complex, [Yb(C27H24Cl3N4O3)] [systematic name: (2,2',2''-{(nitrilo)-tris-[ethane-2,1-di-yl(nitrilo)-methylyl-idene]}tris-(4-chloro-phenolato)ytterbium(III)], is coordinated by a trinegative, hepta-dentate ligand and exists within an N4O3 donor set, which defines a capped octa-hedral geometry whereby the amine N atom caps the triangular face defined by the three imine N atoms. The packing features supra-molecular layers that stack along the a axis, sustained by a combination of aryl-C-H?O, imine-C-H?O, methyl-ene-C-H??(ar-yl) and end-on C-Cl??(ar-yl) inter-actions. A Hirshfeld surface analysis points to the major contributions of C?H/ H?C and Cl?H/H?Cl inter-actions (along with H?H) to the overall surface but the Cl?H contacts are at distances greater than the sum of their van der Waals radii.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Ni(2)(C(27)H(24)Br(3)N(4)O(3))(CH(3)CO(2))(CH(3)OH)(H(2)O)]·2CH(3)OH·H(2)O contains [L(OAc){(CH(3)OH)Ni}{(H(2)O)Ni}] mol-ecules {H(3)L = 2-(5-bromo-2-hy-droxy-phen-yl)-1,3-bis-[4-(5-bromo-2-hy-droxy-phen-yl)-3-aza-but-3-en-yl]-1,3-imidazolidine} with additional water and two methanol solvent mol-ecules. In this instance, one of the two Ni atoms is coordinated to a water and the other to a methanol mol-ecule. The Ni-O and Ni-N distances, as well as the angles about the metal atoms, show quite regular octa-hedra around the central ions. The Ni-O(phenol)-Ni and Ni-O(acetate)-Ni angles are not similar [95.26?(13) and 97.34?(13)°, respectively], indicating that this subtle solvate exchange induces significant differences in the conformation adopted. The coordinated methanol ligand is involved in an intra-molecular hydrogen bond to the uncoordinated O atom of the bridging acetate ligand, while the coordinated water mol-ecule forms a hydrogen bond with the one of the methanol solvent mol-ecules. The water solvent mol-ecule forms strong hydrogen bonds to both phenolate O atoms. The remaining methanol solvent mol-ecule also forms a hydrogen bond with this solvent water mol-ecule.

The coordination sphere of the Zn atom is based on an octahedron with a significant distortion towards trigonal prismatic, the twist angle being 45.58?(9)°. The crystal packing is formed by L and D anti-podes arranged in layers disposed parallel to the b axis. Strong O-H?O hydrogen bonding exists between the hy-droxy groups of the ligand and the nitrate anion.

Project description:The tripodal character of the title compound, C(33)H(30)N(10)S(3), arises from the three thio-ether arms surrounding a central amine N atom. The three arms have approximately the same conformation but distinct geometries in a trans-trans-cis conformation, resulting in a short pyridine-sulfanyl N?S distance of 4.320?(7)?Å. The distances of the central N atom to the N atoms of three pyridine rings in the arms are 8.305?(7), 8.032?(7) and 5.076?(9)Å. In the crystal, mol-ecules are joined into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network via effective ?-? stacking between adjacent heterocycles [centroid-centroid distances of 3.700?(3)-4.118?(4)?Å between adjacent inter-layer pyrimidine rings and 3.676?(4)?Å between the pyridine rings].
