ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Mn(C(20)H(14)N(2)O(2))(N(3))(H(2)O)]·0.5H(2)O, the Mn(III) ion is chelated by the N,N',O,O'-tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand and further coordinated by one azide ion and one water mol-ecule in trans positions, resulting in a distorted fac-MnN(3)O(3) octa-hedral arrangement. The O atom of the uncoordinated water mol-ecule lies on a crystallographic twofold axis. In the crystal, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds help to establish the packing.

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C(16)H(14)N(2)O(2))(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(H(2)O)], is a Jahn-Teller-distorted manganese(III) monomer with an octa-hedral geometry. The tetra-dentate Schiff base accommodates the Mn(III) ion at the centre of a nearly planar square. The axial positions are occupied by a monodentate carboxyl-ate group and a water mol-ecule. Adjacent monomers inter-act through hydrogen bonding between the noncoordinated C=O group of the carboxyl-ate and the coordinated water mol-ecule to produce chains extending parallel to the b axis.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mn(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(CH(3)OH)(H(2)O)]ClO(4)·0.5H(2)O, contains two complex cations and two perchlorate anions, one of which is disordered over two positions in a 0.767?(8):0.233?(8) ratio. The Mn(III) atoms are in distorted octa-hedral environments. In addition to the equatorial tetra-dentate salicylaldimine ligand, each Mn is axially coordinated by both a methanol and a water mol-ecule. The complex is a dimer held together by multiple strong and weak hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the coordinated water mol-ecule on one monomer with all the phenolic and meth-oxy O atoms on the other monomer. In addition, the two perchlorate anions are linked by hydrogen bonds to the two methanol mol-ecules coordinated to each Mn center. The Mn-O phenolic bond distances range from 1.868?(2) to 1.882?(2)?Å while the Mn-N distances range from 1.978?(2) to 1.981?(2)?Å. Mn-O distances for the axial water and methanol ligands are longer at 2.226?(2)/2.257?(2) and 2.313?(2)/2.324?(2)?Å, reflecting the usual Jahn-Teller distortion as found in Mn(III) complexes.

The Jahn-Teller-distorted manganese(III) centre has an octa-hedral geometry. Extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions generate a two-dimensional sheet structure parallel to (103).

Project description:The reported structure is a monoclinic polymorph of the title compound, [Mn(2)(C(16)H(14)N(2)O(2))(2)(NCS)(2)], which has been characterized previously in an ortho-rhom-bic form. Each Mn(III) atom is chelated by a tetra-dentate 2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diylbis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolate ligand and by the N atom of a thio-cyanate anion, in a square-pyramidal arrangement. Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Mn(C(28)H(30)N(2)O(2))Cl(H(2)O)][Mn(C(28)H(30)N(2)O(2))Cl(CH(3)OH)], contains two discrete Mn(III) complexes of a Schiff base ligand, with an N(2)O(2) donor set. Both Mn(III) centers are in a distorted octa-hedral geometry with the N(2)O(2) donor atoms of the tetra-dentate Schiff base dianion in the equatorial plane. The axial positions in the coordination environment of one Mn(III) complex are occupied by a chloride ion and a water mol-ecule, but a methanol mol-ecule replaces the water mol-ecule in the other complex. The coordinated water mol-ecule takes part in an O-H?Cl hydrogen bond between the two Mn(III) complexes. In the crystal structure, O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into infinite one-dimensional chains along the [100] direction. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds together with weak C-H?O and C-H?Cl inter-actions. A C-H?? inter-action is also observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(20)H(14)N(2)O(2))(C(5)H(5)N)(2)]ClO(4) or [Co(salophen)(py)(2)]ClO(4), where salophen is o-phenyl-enebis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolate and py is pyridine, contains a six-coordinate mononuclear cobalt(III) atom. The two phenolic O atoms and the two imine N atoms are located in cis positions. There are two pyridine mol-ecules attached to the metal atom, filling the axial sites with a mutually perpendicular disposition of the pyridine planes [86.11?(5)°]. The Co complexes are stacked in layers parallel to (100). Coherence of the structure is provided by a variety of C-H?O interactions between the complexes and the perchlor-ate counter anion.

Project description:In the title complex, [Mn(C(22)H(18)N(2)O(2))Cl], the Mn(III) center is in a distorted square-pyramidal configuration; the basal plane is formed by the N(2)O(2) donors of the tetra-dentate Schiff base dianion, with the two phenol O atoms and two imine N atoms each mutually cis. The chloride ion occupies the apical coordination site. The dihedral angle between the two outer phenolate rings of the tetra-dentate ligand is 18.24 (9)°. The central benzene ring makes dihedral angles of 13.71 (8) and 30.50 (8)° with the two outer phenolate rings. In the crystal structure, weak C-H⋯Cl inter-actions link the mol-ecules into screw helices along the b direction. These helices are further connected by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions into a three-dimensional network. The crystal structure is further stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions involving the central benzene ring.
