ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Cu(C(14)H(9)ClN(2)O(3))(C(5)H(5)N)], the Cu(II) ion exhibits a distorted trans-CuN(2)O(2) square-planar geometry arising from the O,O,N-tridentate ligand and a pyridine mol-ecule. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular C-H?? inter-actions generate a chain. The crystal studied was an inversion twin.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(15)H(12)N(2)O(4))(2)(C(6)H(5)N)(2)], each Cu(II) atom is chelated by the tridentate doubly deprotonated Schiff base and a pyridine mol-ecule in a nearly planar environment (r.m.s. deviation for all non-H atoms = 0.107?Å). The metal ions are bridged by one O atom from the symmetry-related Schiff base ligands, forming a centrosymmetric dinuclear copper(II) complex. The dimeric complex is linked to another dimer via weaker Cu-O inter-actions and also O-H?N hydrogen bonds.

The Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a quadratic pyramidal mode. The quadratic plane is formed by the O,O',N-tridentate ligand and a pyridine mol-ecule. The fifth coordination site is occupied by the O atom of another ligand showing a significantly longer Cu-O bond.

Project description:The mononuclear title complex, [Cu(C(17)H(14)N(2)O(3))(C(5)H(5)N)], was synthesized by the reaction of CuCl(2)·2H(2)O with N-(4-oxo-4-phenyl-butan-2-yl-idene)benzohydrazide (H(2)L). The central Cu(II) atom exhibits a distorted square-planar coordination geometry, defined by two O atoms, one N atom from the ligand and one pyridine N atom with Cu-N distances of 1.874?(4) and 1.963?(4)?Å, while the Cu-O distances are 1.857?(3) and 1.890?(3)?Å. An intra-molecular O-H?N inter-action occurs.

Project description:A new coordination polymer, [Cu(C(7)H(2)N(2)O(7))(C(5)H(5)NO)](n), exhibits a double-chain structure, in which 3,5-dinitro-2-oxidobenzoate and 3-hydroxy-pyridine both act as bridging ligands, -connecting adjacent copper(II) centers to form an infinite double-stranded chain. The asymmetric unit contains one Cu(II) ion, one 3,5-dinitro-2-oxidobenzoate ligand and a 3-hydroxy-pyridine ligand. Coordination by one N atom and three O atoms from two different 3,5-dinitro-2-oxidobenzoate ligands and a 3-hydroxy-pyridine ligand creates a square-planar Cu(II) center, which is augmented by a less tightly bonded fifth phenol O atom to form a square-pyramidal five-coordinate complex with an essentially planar base. The double-stranded chains are stabilized by intra-chain ?-? inter-actions [the centroid-to-centroid distance between adjacent aromatic rings is 3.719?(7)?Å], and further linked through O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Hydrogen bonding between hy-droxy H and carboxyl-ate O atoms results in a layer structure parallel to the ab plane.
