ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [CoCl(C(2)H(8)N(2))(2)(C(7)H(9)N)]Cl(2)·0.5H(2)O, there are two crystallographically independent cations and anions and one water mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. Both Co(III) ions are bonded to two chelating ethylenediamine ligands, one benzylamine molecule and one chloride ion. The crystal packing is through N-H?O, N-H?Cl and O-H?Cl inter-actions.

Project description:The title complex, [CoCl(C(5)H(13)N)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(2)]Cl(2)·H(2)O, comprises one chloridobis(ethyl-enediamine)(n-pentyl-amine)cobalt(III) cation, two chloride counter-anions and a water mol-ecule. The Co(III) atom of the complex is hexa-coordinated by five N and one Cl atoms. The five N atoms are from two chelating ethyl-enediamine and one n-pentyl-amine ligands. Neighbouring cations and anions are connected by N-H?Cl and N-H?O hydrogen bonds to each other and also to the water mol-ecule.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(28)H(22)N(2)O(2))(C(5)H(5)N)(2)]ClO(4)·0.5CH(4)O·0.5H(2)O, each Co(III) ion is coordinated by the tetra-dentate N,N'-bis-(2-oxidobenzyl-idene)-1,2-diphenyl-ethane-1,2-diamine ligand [Co-N = 1.900 (3) and 1.903 (3) Å; Co-O = 1.885 (3) and 1.891 (3) Å] and two pyridine ligands [Co-N = 1.967 (4) and 1.977 (3) Å] in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The packing of the cations and anions forms voids of 258 Å(3), which are filled by methanol and solvent water mol-ecules with half occupancies. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between solvent molecules, perchlorate anions and water molecules, and between water molecules and O atoms of the ligand, help to consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The title ionic complex [CoCl(NCS)(C2H8N2)2][Cr(NCS)4(NH3)2], which crystallizes as a non-merohedral twin, is build up of a complex cation [CoCl(NCS)(en)2](+) (en is ethane-1,2-di-amine) and the Reinecke's salt anion [Cr(NCS)4(NH3)2](-) as complex counter-ion. A network of N-H⋯S and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, as well as short S⋯S contacts [3.538 (2) and 3.489 (3) Å], between the NCS groups of the complex anions link the mol-ecules into a three-dimentional supra-molecular network. Intensity statistic indicated twinning by non-mero-hedry with refined weighs of twin components are 0.5662:0.4338.

In the cation, the three rings formed by the ethyl-enediamine units and the Co(III) metal ion are in slightly distorted twist conformations. Project description:The mol-ecule of the title bidentate Schiff base ligand, C(18)H(20)N(2)O(2), has twofold crystallographic rotation symmetry, giving one half-mol-ecule per asymmetric unit. It adopts a twisted E configuration with respect to the azomethine C=N bond. The imino group is coplanar with the aromatic ring. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 69.52?(5)°. The meth-oxy group is coplanar with the benzene ring, as indicated by the C-O-C-C torsion angle of -179.56?(8)°. Project description:The mol-ecule of the title Schiff base compound, C(16)H(14)I(2)N(2), lies across a crystallographic inversion centre. An intra-molecular C-H?I hydrogen bond forms a five-membered ring, producing an S(5) ring motif. The C=N bond is coplanar with the benzene ring and adopts a trans configuration. Within the mol-ecule, the planar units are parallel, but extend in opposite directions from the dimethyl-ene bridge. An inter-esting feature of the crystal structure is the short I?N [3.2096?(15)?Å] inter-action, which is significantly shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of these atoms. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into one-dimensional extended chains along the c axis and also into one-dimensional extended chains along the b axis through short inter-molecular I?N inter-actions, forming two-dimensional networks parallel to the bc plane.
