(2,2'-Bipyridine-?N,N')bis-(4-hydroxy-benzoato-?O,O')lead(II) monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: The reaction of lead acetate, 4-hydroxy-benzoic acid and 2,2'-bipyridine in aqueous solution gave the title complex, [Pb(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·H(2)O. The asymmetric unit contains one Pb(II) atom, two 4-hydroxy-benzoate ligands, one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and one uncoordinated water mol-ecule. The Pb(II) atom is hexa-coordinated in a distorted tetra-gonal-bipyramidal geometry and is chelated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms and two N atoms. O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, involving the uncoordinated water, the carboxyl-ate O atoms and hydr-oxy O atoms, produce a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Zn(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], the Zn(II) ion is coordinated by two 4-hydroxy-benzoate anions, one 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule and one water mol-ecule and displays a distorted octa-hedral geometry. One Zn-O bond [2.5300?(15)?Å] is much longer than the others in the mol-ecule. In the crystal structure, the face-to-face separation of 3.547?(9)?Å suggests no ?-? stacking between parallel bipyridine ring systems, and an extensive O-H?O hydrogen-bonding network between the coordinated water molecule, the phenol group and carboxylate O atoms is present.

Pairs of complex mol-ecules related by inversion centers are organized into dimers via pairs of Pb?O inter-actions [3.185?(2)?Å] and stacking interactions between 2,2'-bipyridine and 4-methyl-benzoate ligands, with a mean distance between their planes of 3.491?Å.

Project description:The reaction of lead acetate, benzoic acid and 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) in aqueous solution yielded the title complex, [Pb(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·C(7)H(6)O(2). The asymmetric unit contains two independent complex mol-ecules as well as two independent benzoic acid solvent mol-ecules, one of which is disordered over two positions with almost equal occupancies [0.504?(5) and 0.496?(5)]. The two complex mol-ecules have similar configurations with the hexa-coordinated environment of the Pb(II) atom formed by four carboxyl-ate O atoms of two chelate benzoate ligands and two N atoms of the bipy ligand. The Pb-O bonds involving one of the benzoate ligands are almost coplanar with Pb-N bonds to the bipy ligand [dihedral angles of 12.67?(11) and 14.73?(11)°] ; if the second benzoate ligand is treated as one coordination site, the overall coordination may be represented as a distorted pseudo-square pyramid. Weak inter-molecular Pb?O inter-actions [3.046?(3) and 3.359?(3)?Å] link each of the complex mol-ecules into two symmetry-independent centrosymmetric dimers. Hydrogen bonds involving the carboxyl H atoms of solvent benzoic acid mol-ecules and metal-coordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms link complex mol-ecules and benzoic acid solvent mol-ecules into insular aggregates.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric binuclear title complex, [Pb(2)(C(7)H(5)O(3))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O, each Pb atom is eight-coordinated in a PbO(6)N(2) environment by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, five carboxylate O atoms from four 3-hydroxy-benzoate anions and one O atom from the coordinated water mol-ecule in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The benzoate groups coordinate each Pb(II) atom in two different ways. Two benzoate ions behave as bidentate ligands to the Pb atom, and another benzoate ion bridges the Pb atoms, forming a binuclear structure. The dimeric units are packed via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions between the aromatic rings of neighboring mol-ecules, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.552 (2) and 3.641 (2) Å.

Project description:The title complex, [Cd(C(2)HN(9))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5C(10)H(8)N(2)·H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal reaction conditions. The asymmetric unit contains the cadmium complex, half a 2,2'-bipyridine solvent mol-ecule and a solvent water mol-ecule. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two N atoms from an HBTA(-) anion ligand [where H(2)BTA is N,N-bis-(1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)amine], forming an octa-hedral geometry. The complex is linked into a three-dimensional network by O-H?N and N-H?N hydrogen bonds and by the stacking inter-actions of rings, with distances of 3.5-3.7?Å between the atoms of two parallel 2,2'-bipyridine rings.

Project description:The complex molecule of the title compound, [Mn(3)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(6)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·H(2)O, contains a linear array of divalent manganese ions. The central Mn(II) atom, which is located on a crystallographic inversion center, is coordinated octa-hedrally by six benzoate O atoms. The two terminal Mn(II) ions are six-coordinated by four benzoate O atoms and two N atoms of 2,2'-bipyridyl. The central Mn(II) atom and the terminal Mn(II) ions are bridged by four benzoate ligands in a bidentate fashion, whereas the other two carboxyl-ate ligands form bridges through one O atom only and chelate the terminal Mn(II) atom. The mol-ecules pack together via van der Waals attractions and C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The apical site is occupied by one of the carboxyl-ate O atoms. The water mol-ecule forms intra-molecular hydrogen bonds to the uncoordinated carboxyl O atoms. The crystal studied was a nonmerohedral twin with minor components in 0.381?(3) and 0.108?(2) proportions.

Project description:In the structure of the title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(5)O(2))(OH)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(C(7)H(6)O(2))]·H(2)O, the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry with one O atom of a hydroxide group, one O atom of a benzoate anion and two N atoms of a 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand occupying the basal plane, and one O atom of a benzoic acid mol-ecule located at the apical site. The title complex was refined with a metal-coordinated OH group and a 'free' benzoic acid molecule, although it can be assumed that the proton is delocalized between the OH and the COOH group. The uncoordinated water mol-ecule is equally disordered over two positions. The structure displays O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.
