ABSTRACT: The Sn(IV) atom in the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(2)(C(10)H(8)NO)(NCS)], is chelated by the 2-methyl-quinolin-8-olate anion and is five-coordinate in a trigonal-bipramidal geometry [C-Sn-C = 133.47?(13) and 138.77?(12)°]. There are two independent mol-ecules of similar conformation in the asymmetric unit.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Sn(CH(3))(C(6)H(5))(C(10)H(8)NO)Cl], consists of two independent mol-ecules, both of which have the N,O-chelated Sn(IV) atom in a cis-C(2)SnNOCl trigonal-bipyramidal geometry [C-Sn-C = 124.82?(8) and 137.69?(8)°]. The Cl atom of the mol-ecule with the smaller C-Sn-C angle inter-acts weakly with the Sn(IV) atom of the mol-ecule with the wider C-Sn-C angle at an Sn?Cl distance of 3.595?(1)?Å. Weak inter-molecular C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Sn(C6H5)3(C2H3OS2)], the Sn(IV) atom adopts a distorted SnC3S tetra-hedral coordination geometry. A short Sn⋯O contact [2.988 (4) Å] is also present. The phenyl rings are each disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.550 (8):0.450 (8). The crystal studied was found to be a racemic twin with a twin component ratio of 0.57 (18):0.43 (18).

In the mol-ecule, the two quinoline ring systems are twisted to one another at 10.91?(18)°.
