Bis(triphenyl-phospho-ranyl-idene)ammonium iodide.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(36)H(30)NP(2) (+)·I(-), was obtained accidently from crystallization of a reaction mixture containing [(Ph(3)P)(2)N]OH and B(OH)(3), which was contaminated with MeI. There are two independent [(Ph(3)P)(2)N](+) cations and two I(-) anions within the asymmetric unit. The central PNP angles are non-linear [137.6?(2) and 134.4?(2)°] and the phenyl substituents on P centres adopt different conformations within these two cations.

Project description:The title crystal structure is a new triclinic polymorph of [(Ph3P)2N]Cl·(B(OH)3) or C36H30NP2 (+)·Cl(-)·BH3O3. The crystal structure of the ortho-rhom-bic polymorph was reported by [Andrews et al. (1983 ?). Acta Cryst. C39, 880-882]. In the crystal, the [(Ph3P)2N](+) cations have no significant contacts to the chloride ions nor to the boric acid mol-ecules. This is indicated by the P-N-P angle of 137.28?(8)°, which is in the expected range for a free [(Ph3P)2N](+) cation. The boric acid mol-ecules form inversion dimers via pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds, and each boric acid mol-ecule forms two additional O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds to one chloride anion. These entities fill channels, created by the [(Ph3P)2N](+) cations, along the c-axis direction.

Project description:In the title compound, [(Ph(3)P)(2)N](+)·[Cl-H-Cl](-) or C(36)H(30)NP(2) (+)·Cl(2)H(-), the H atom of the [Cl-H-Cl](-) anion and the N atom of the [(Ph(3)P)(2)N](+) cation are located on a twofold axis, yielding overall symmetry 2 for both the cation and the anion. The central P-N-P angle [144.12?(13)°] of the cation is in the expected range and indicates only weak cation-anion inter-actions. The almost linear [Cl-H-Cl](-) anion is a rare example of a symmetric hydrogen bridge in a hydrogen dichloride anion. The Cl?Cl distance and two equal Cl-H bonds are typical of such a symmetric hydrogen dichloride anion.

Project description:There are two independent mol-ecules per asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(26)H(23)N(2)O(3)PS. Their superposition shows that they differ in the conformation of the CH(3)CO- group and the benzene rings from the triphenyl-phospho-rane group. In the crystal structure, independent mol-ecules are inter-conected by strong N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming infinite chains along the a axis.

Project description:The title compound, C(45)H(27)P, was obtained as a product of the reaction of triphenyl-methyl-enephospho-rane with one molar equivalent of 1,4-diphenyl-butadiyne in toluene. The compound was very stable under ambient conditions, but rapidly decomposed in solution when exposed to the air. The P atom is tetra-coordinated in an approximately tetrahedral geometry. The length of the C C triple bond [1.206?(2)?Å] is in the normal range.

The chains inter-act with one another via O-H?O hydrogen bonds along the c axis. These networks of anions assemble with the dicyclo-hexyl-ammonium ion through N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.
