ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(12)H(9)N(2))(2)[PtBr(6)]·2H(2)O, contains a protonated 1,10-phenanthroline cation (H-phen), one half of a [PtBr(6)](2-) anionic complex and a solvent water mol-ecule. The Pt(IV) ion is located on an inversion centre and is coordinated in an octa-hedral environment by six Br atoms. The crystal structure displays numerous inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between six-membered rings of H-phen, with a shortest centroid-centroid distance of 3.670?(5)?Å, and inter-molecular N-H?O, O-H?Br and O-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title hydrated molecular salt, C(12)H(9)N(2) (+)·C(4)H(5)O(6) (-)·2H(2)O, the cation is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.014?Å); the carbon skeleton of the anion assumes a trans conformation [C-C-C-C torsion angle = -179.86?(14)°]. The carboxyl end of one hydrogen tartrate anion forms a short hydrogen bond to the carboxyl-ate end of another anion [O?O = 2.508?(2)?Å] in a head-to-tail manner, forming a chain; the chains and water mol-ecules inter-act, generating an O-H?O hydrogen-bonded layer. The cation binds to the layer by an N-H?O hydrogen bond.

In the crystal, a supra-molecular network structure is formed via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯O and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.651 (6) and 3.545 (8) Å].

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C12H9N2)2[ZnCl4]·H2O, the two independent 1,10-phenanthrolinium cations are bridged by the water mol-ecule and the tetrahedral tetrachloridozincate anion via N-H⋯O, O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [100]. The chains are linked via C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and a number of π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances vary from 3.5594 (14) to 3.7057 (13) Å], forming a three-dimensional network. In each 1,10-phenanthrolinium cation, there is a short N-H⋯N inter-action.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, (C(12)H(9)N(2))(3)[Fe(CN)(6)]·C(2)H(5)OH·3H(2)O, consists of two half [Fe(CN)(6)](3-) anions located on inversion centers, three 1,10-phenanthrolin-1-ium cations, [Hphen](+), an ethanol and three water solvent mol-ecules. The average Fe-C and C-N bond lengths are 1.942?(6) and 1.154?(3)?Å, respectively, while the Fe-C-N angles deviate slightly from linearity with values ranging from 177.8?(2) to 179.7?(2)°. The Fe(III) atoms adopt a distorted octa-hedral geometry. All the species are linked through O-H?N, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, resulting in a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 2C5H6N5 (+)·SiF6 (2-)·2H2O, contains one adeninium cation, half of a hexa-fluorido-silicate anion located on an inversion centre and one lattice water mol-ecule. The adeninium cations are connected through N-H?N hydrogen bonds involving one H atom of the -NH2 group and the H atom of the protonated N atom of the adenine ring system, forming centrosymmetric ring motifs of the type R 2 (2)(10) and R 2 (2)(8), respectively. The overall connection of the cation leads to the formation of planar ribbons parallel to (122). In the ribbons, slipped ?-? stacking inter-actions, with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.6938?(9)?Å, an inter-planar distance of 3.455?Å and a slippage of 1.306?Å is observed. The hexa-fluorido-silicate anion and the water mol-ecule are linked through O-H?F hydrogen bonds [ring motif R 4 (4)(12)] into chains parallel to [100]. The cationic ribbons and anionic chains are finally connected through additional N-H?O, N-H?F and O-H?F hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network in which layers of adeninium cations and fluorido-silicate anions alternate parallel to (001).

Project description:In the structure of the title 2:1 proton-transfer compound, 2C12H8N3O2 (+)·C10H4O8 (2-), the 6-nitro-1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecules act as proton sponges, accepting protons from pyromellitic acid. The -NO2 group of one of the 6-nitro-1,10-phenanthrolin-1-ium cations is disordered and was refined with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.624 (15):0.376 (15). Two -COOH(-COO(-)) groups of the 2,5-di-carb-oxy-terephthalate dianion are disordered and were refined with site-occupancy ratios of 0.769 (4):0.231 (4) and 0.766 (5):0.234 (5). The -NO2 group of the second cation is also disordered about a pseudo-twofold rotation axis and was refined with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.903 (3):0.097 (3). There is an intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond in the anion. The phenanthroline rings of the two cations are inclined to one another by 31.3 (1)°. In the anions, considering the major components only, the carb-oxy-lic acid groups (-COOH) are inclined to the benzene ring by 17.3 (2) and 22.3 (3)°. The carboxyl-ate groups (-COO(-)) are twisted by 9.3 (2) and 13.6 (6)° with respect to the benzene ring. In the crystal, adjacent 2,5-di-carb-oxy-terephthalate anions are linked via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [010]. The cations are attached to the chain of anions by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Each of the hydrogen tartrate anions is hydrogen bonded to itself by translation along [100] in a head-to-tail fashion via a short hydrogen bond with donor-acceptor distances of 2.473?(4) and 2.496?(4)?Å. A large number of inter-molecular O-H?O, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, as well as ?-? stacking [centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.642?(3) to 3.866?(3)?Å], play an important role in the crystal structure.

The compound exhibits a layered structure in which all atoms lie on a crystallographic mirror plane. N(+)-H⋯Cl(-) hydrogen bonds, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl(-) contacts are formed within each layer. The perpendicular separation between the layers is 3.141 (1) Å.
