ABSTRACT: In the title complex, {[Cu(C(12)H(12)O(4))(C(5)H(5)N)(2)]·H(2)O}(n), the Cu(II) ion lies on an inversion center and is coordinated by two O atoms from two 2,3,5,6-tetra-methyl-benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (TBDC) ligands and two N atoms from two pyridine ligands in a slightly distorted square-planar environment. The TBDC ligands act as bridging ligands, forming chains along [110]. These chains are further linked into a two-dimensional network via inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The solvent water mol-ecule lies on a twofold rotation axis.

The anionic ligand is also located on an inversion centre, and connects four Cd(II) cations, generating a two-dimensional polymeric layer parallel to the ab plane. Project description:In the title complex, {[CaZn(C(10)H(2)O(8))(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O}(n), the Zn(II) ion is coordinated by four O atoms from four benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate anions in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The Ca(II) ion is eight-coordinated by six O atoms from four benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate anions and by two water mol-ecules in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. The Ca(II) and Zn(II) ions and the lattice water mol-ecule are located on twofold rotation axes; the centroid of the benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate anion is located on a centre of inversion. The ?(8)-bridging mode of the anion results in the formation of a three-dimensional structure with channels extending along [100] in which lattice water mol-ecules are situated. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the coordinating and lattice water mol-ecules as donors and the carboxyl-ate O atoms and lattice water mol-ecules as acceptors are present in the structure.

Project description:In the title complex, {[Cu(C(8)F(4)O(4))(C(4)H(8)O(2))(H(2)O)(2)]·2C(4)H(8)O(2)·2H(2)O}(n), the Cu(II) ion is six-coordinated by two oxygen donors from two trans 2,3,5,6-tetra-fluoro-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (BDC-F(4)) ligands, two O atoms from two chair 1,4-dioxane ligands and two O atoms from two terminal water mol-ecules, adopting a distorted octa-hedral coordinated geometry. Each BDC-F(4) anion bridges two Cu(II) ions in a bis-monodentate fashion, forming a [Cu(BDC-F(4))](n) chain. These chains are further linked by bridging 1,4-dioxane ligands, generating a two-dimensional net with approximately recta-ngular grids of 11.253 × 7.654?Å. Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), is a new coordination polymer of benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate with cadmium(II) and 1,10-phenanthroline. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecule, three O atoms from two crystallographically independent benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and the O atom of a coordinated water mol-ecule, forming a heavily distorted octa-hedron. The 1,10-phenanthroline ligand is approximately planar within 0.073 (4) Å. The two different benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands each coordinate to two Cd(II) ions in bidentate and monodentate modes, forming an infinite zigzag chain. Adjacent chains are packed tightly by strong π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.851 (2) and 3.859 (2) Å] between the aromatic rings of the benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and the 1,10-phenanthroline of a neighboring chain, forming a sheet parallel to (011). Different sheets are linked together via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecules and the O atoms of the carboxyl-ate groups, forming a three-dimensional network.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into one-dimensional coordination polymers running along the ac diagonal. The crystal structure is consolidated by N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The asymmetric unit consists of two Zn(II) atoms, two tetrahydrofuran ligands, one 2,3,5,6-tetra-fluoro-benzene-1,4-di-carboxyl-ate ligand and two half 2,3,5,6-tetra-fluoro-benzene-1,4-di-carboxyl-ate ligands, which are completed by inversion symmetry.
