ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(17)H(21)N(3)O(2)·2H(2)O, water mol-ecules are mutually O-H?O hydrogen bonded and form infinite chains propagating along the b axis. Neighboring chains are linked by the quinazoline mol-ecules by means of O-H?O=C hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional network.

Project description:At 100 K, the title compound, C13H12N2O2, crystallizes in the ortho-rhom-bic space group Pna21 with two very similar mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. An intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond leads to an S(6) graph-set motif in each of the mol-ecules. Inter-molecular π-π stacking and C=O⋯π inter-actions involving the aldehyde O atoms link mol-ecules into stacks parallel to [100]. A Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important contributions to the crystal packing stem from H⋯H (49.4%) and H⋯O/O⋯H (21.5%) inter-actions. Energy framework calculations reveal a significant contribution of dispersion energy. The crystal studied was refined as a two-component inversion twin.

Project description:The title compound, C(11)H(13)N(2)O(+)·Cl(-)·2H(2)O, the dihydrate of (+)-vasicinol hydro-chloride, is a pyrrolidinoquinazoline alkaloid. It was isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of the leaves of Peganum harmala L. The pyrrolidine ring has an envelope conformation with the C atom at position 2 acting as the flap and the C atom at position 3, carrying the hydroxyl substituent, has an S configuration. The absolute configuration was determined as a result of the anomalous scattering of the Cl atom. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules stack along the a axis, connected to one another via inter-molecular O-H?Cl and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, forming approximately triangular-shaped R(2) (1)(7) rings, and O-H?Cl and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming penta-gonal-shaped R(5) (4)(10) rings. The overall effect is a ribbon-like arrangement running parallel to the a axis.

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of bis-(6,7,8,9-tetra-hydro-11H-pyrido[2,1-b]quinazolin-5-ium) tetra-chlorido-zincate.

Project description:The title compound, (C12H15N2)2[ZnCl4], is a salt with two symmetrically independent, essentially planar heterocyclic cations and a slightly distorted tetra-hedral chloro-zincate dianion. N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link these ionic constituents into a discrete aggregate, which comprises one formula unit. The effect of hydrogen bonding is reflected in the minor distortions of the [ZnCl4]2- moiety: distances between the cation and chlorido ligands engaged in classical hydrogen bonds are significantly longer than the others. Secondary inter-actions comprise C-H⋯π hydrogen bonding and weak π-π stacking. A Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most abundant contacts in packing stem from H⋯H (47.8%) and Cl⋯H/H⋯Cl (29.3%) inter-actions.

Project description:The title schulzeine derivative, C(22)H(24)N(2)O(4), crystallizes with two crystallographically independent mol-ecules of almost identical conformation in the asymmetric unit. The tricyclic core of schulzeine has a fused-three-ring system comprising the tetra-hydro-isoquinoline and ?-lactam moieties. In both mol-ecules, the pyridine ring adopts a twisted-boat conformation, whereas the lactam ring is in a boat conformation. The two meth-oxy groups are slightly twisted from the attached benzene ring [C-O-C-C torsion angles = -21.3?(2) and -20.5?(2)° in mol-ecule A, and -6.3?(2) and -16.2?(2)° in mol-ecule B] and the benzamide moiety is in a (-)-synclinal conformation with respect to the lactam ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into V-shaped dimers by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H?O inter-actions. These dimers are stacked into V-shaped columns along the a axis. Adjacent columns are further linked in an anti-parallel manner. C-H?? inter-actions are also observed.

Project description:Compounds (I), C22H20N2O2, (II), C22H20N2O2 and (III), C20H18N2O3 are the products of three-component reactions between isatoic anhydride, the corresponding amine and 3-(5-methylfuran-2-yl)- or (furan-2-yl)-2-methyl-acryl-aldehyde. Compound (I) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n, while compounds (II) and (III) are isostructural and crystallize in the ortho-rhom-bic space group Pbca. The tetra-hydro-pyrimidine ring in (I)-(III) adopts a sofa conformation. The NH nitro-gen atom has a trigonal-pyramidal geometry, whereas the N(R) nitro-gen atom is flattened. The furyl-vinyl substituents in (I)-(III) are practically planar and have an E configuration at the C=C double bond. In (I), this bulky fragment occupies the axial position at the quaternary carbon atom of the tetra-hydro-pyrimidine ring, whereas in (II) and (III) it is equatorially disposed. In the crystal of (I), mol-ecules form hydrogen-bonded chains propagating along [001] by strong inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The chains are packed in stacks along the a-axis direction. In the crystals of (II) and (III), mol-ecules also form hydrogen-bonded chains propagating along [100] by strong inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. However, despite the fact that compounds (II) and (III) are isostructural, steric differences between the phenyl and furyl substituents result in chains with different geometries. Thus in the crystal of (II) the chains have a zigzag-like structure, whereas in the crystal of (III), they are almost linear. In both (II) and (III), the hydrogen-bonded chains are further packed in stacks along the b-axis direction.

Project description:The title compound, C(20)H(19)N(3)O, was obtained by condensation of 2,3-dihydro-1H,9H-pyrrolo-[2,1-b]quinazolin-9-one (alkaloid de-oxy-vasicinone, isolated from Peganum Harmala) with 4-(dimethyl-amino)-benzaldehyde in the presence of sodium methoxide. The 2,3-dihydro-1H,9H-pyrrolo-[2,1-b]quinazolin-9-one part of the mol-ecule is roughly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0178?Å) and is essentially coplanar with the benzil-idene ring (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0080?Å), forming a dihedral angle of 5.0?(1)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by two aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions observed between the benzene rings of neighboring mol-ecules [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7555?(19)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, C(14)H(16)N(2)O, is a synthetic analogue of quinazolone alkaloids with pyrrilo, pyrido and azopino rings. The quinazolinic part of the mol-ecule is generally planar within 0.037?(3)?Å; the eight-membered ring exhibits an inter-mediate conformation between the chair and boat forms as it is typical for cyclo-octene rings. An ethyl-ene group of the azopino ring is disordered over two positions with a refined occupancy ratio of 0.910?(7):0.090?(7). In the crystal, the H atoms of the aromatic rings form weak C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen bonds. One C-H?O hydrogen bond leads to the formation of a one-dimensional chain. Another C-H?O and a C-H?N bond link these chains, generating a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title two-dimensional network, [HgCl(2)(C(11)H(10)N(2)O)](n), the asymmetric unit consists of HgCl(2) dumbbells and one mol-ecule of the quinazoline unit. Pseudo-octa-hedrally coordinated Hg(II) cations are chloride-bridged via a crystallographic inversion centre leading to different Hg-Cl bonds (short and long) and linked by other Cl atoms via translation along the a axis. The quinazoline ligands connect the Hg-Cl-Hg-Cl chains by N and O atoms along the b axis, forming the two-dimensional network structure. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak non-classical C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.942?(4) and 3.621?(4)?Å].
