ABSTRACT: The mol-ecule of title compound, C(11)H(10)ClNO, is close to being planar (r.m.s deviation for the non-H atoms = 0.017?Å). In the crystal, mol-ecules inter-act by way of O-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating C(2) chains propagating in [010]. The crystal structure is consolidated by C-H?? inter-actions and aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.661?(2)?Å].

Project description:In the title compound, C(28)H(20)Cl(2)N(2)O(2), the 2-chloro-quinoline and 6-chloro-quinoline ring systems are twisted slightly, making a dihedral angle of 4.05?(3)°. The dihedral angle between the 2-quinoline ring system and the phenyl ring attached to it is 74.43?(5)°. In the crystal structure, a pair of inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules, forming centrosymmetric dimers with R(2) (2)(16) motifs. The dimers are further consolidated by a C-H?? inter-action and a ?-? stacking inter-action with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.6562?(10)?Å.

Project description:There are two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C14H12ClNO3. The mean planes of the methyl ester unit (Cmeth-yl-O-C=O; r.m.s. deviation = 0.051 Å for mol-ecule A and 0.016 Å for mol-ecule B) and the chloro-quilonine ring system (r.m.s. deviation = 0.023 Å for mol-ecule A and 0.014 Å for mol-ecule B) form dihedral angles of 63.5 (1)° in mol-ecule A and 78.1 (1)° in mol-ecule B. The main difference between the two independent mol-ecules is reflected in the (H)O-C-C=C(H2) torsion angle which is -109.7 (2)° in mol-ecule A and 10.6 (2)° in mol-ecule B. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond is observed in mol-ecule A. In the crystal, mol-ecules A and B are linked into pairs via bifurcated O-H⋯(N,Cl) hydrogen bonds and a weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bond links pairs of mol-ecules into chains along [100].
