ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [ZnCl(2)(C(9)H(13)NO)(2)], the Zn(II) ion is coordinated by two Cl(-) anions and two O atoms of two zwitterionic organic ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral arrangement. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into sheets parallel to the bc plane by C-H?Cl and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.669?(1)?Å].

Project description:In the bioactive title compound, [ZnBr(2)(C(9)H(13)NO)(2)], the Zn(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral arrangement by two Br(-) anions and the O atoms of two zwitterionic organic ligands. The pyridinium rings are almost planar [maximum deviations = 0.004?(4) and 0.003?(4)?Å]. The ethyl groups are approximately perpendicular to the corresponding pyridinium ring planes [N-C-C-C = 88.8?(4)° in each ligand]. The packing of the mol-ecules is controlled by ?-? inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.625?(3) and 3.711?(2)?Å, forming chains approximately parallel to (102). The crystal studied was non-merohedrally twinned (twin relationship between the domains 1 0 0, 0 1 0, -0.4672 -0.1864 -1 and batch scale factor of 7.39%).

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C(7)H(10)N)(2)[ZnBr(4)], the coordination geometry of the anion is approximately tetra-hedral and a twofold rotation axis passes through the Zn atom. The Zn-Br bond lengths range from 2.400?(2) to 2.408?(3)?Å and the Br-Zn-Br angles range from 108.14?(6) to 115.15?(15)°. In the crystal structure, the [ZnBr(4)](2-) anion is connected to two cations through N-H?Br and H(2)C-H?Br hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional cation-anion-cation layers normal to the b axis. No significant Br?Br inter-actions [the shortest being 4.423?(4)?Å] are observed in the structure.

2,6-Dimethyl-pyridinium bromide.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C(7)H(10)N(+)·Br(-), comprises two 2,6-dimethyl-pyridinium cations and two bromide anions. One cation and one anion are situated in general positions, while the other cation and the other anion lie on a crystallographic mirror plane parallel to (010). Each pair of ions inter-act via N-H?Br and C-H?Br hydrogen bonding, generating motifs depending on the cation and anion involved. Thus, the cation and the anion on the mirror plane generate infinite chains along the c axis, while the other ionic pair leads to sheets parallel to the ac plane. In the overall crystal packing, both motifs alternate along the b axis, with a single layer of the chain motif sandwiched between two double layers of the sheet motif. The sheets and chains are further connected via aryl ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.690?(2) and 3.714?(2)?Å], giving a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The monomeric title zirconium(IV) compound, [Zr(C(12)H(21)N(2)Si)(2)Cl(2)], was prepared by the metathetical reaction of [LiN(SiMe(2)NMe(2))(2,6-Me(2)C(6)H(3))](2) with zirconium tetra-chloride. The Zr(IV) atom is N,N'-chelated by the N-silylated anilido ligand. Along with two Cl atoms, the six-coordinated Zr(IV) atom demonstrates a highly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The two ligands around the Zr(IV) atom are arranged cis to each other and obey the C(2) symmetry operation. That means the asymmetric unit consists of only half of the mol-ecular compound and the complete mol-ecule is generated by a twofold axis. The two ends of the N-Si-N chelating unit exhibit different affinities for the metal center. The Zr-N(amino) bond is longer than the Zr-N(anilido) bond.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C(7)H(10)N)(2)[CoBr(4)], the [CoBr(4)](2-) anion is connected to two cations through N-H?Br and H(2)C-H?Br hydrogen bonds to form two-dimensional cation-anion-cation layers normal to the crystallographic b axis. Inter-actions of the ?-? type are absent between cations in the stacks [centroid-centroid separation = 5.01?(5)?Å]. Significant inter-molecular Br-aryl inter-actions are present in the structure, especially an unusually short Br-ring centroid inter-action of 3.78?(1)?Å. The coordination geometry of the anion is approximately tetrahedral and a twofold rotation axis passes through the Co atom.

Project description:In the title salt, 2C(7)H(10)N(+)·IBr(2) (-)·Br(-), each of the anions, viz. [IBr(2)](-) and Br(-), lie on a twofold axis. The IBr(2) (-) anion is almost linear, with a Br-I-Br angle of 178.25?(3)°. The cation is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0067?Å). The asymmetric unit is compossed of an Ni(II) atom, which sits on an inversion center, a ?-1,5-bridging dicyanamide anion, a water mol-ecule, and a free 4-hydroxy-pyridine mol-ecule present in the zwitterionic pyridinium-4-olate form. The Ni(II) atom is coordinated in a slightly distorted N(4)O(2) octa-hedral geometry by four bridging dicyanamide ligands and two trans water mol-ecules. In the crystal, the two-dimensional networks are linked via N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.
