ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Co(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2)(C(12)H(9)N(5))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, the Co(II) atom, located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two N atoms [Co-N = 2.155?(3)?Å] and four O atoms [Co-O = 2.099?(2)-2.117?(3)?Å] in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Inter-molecular N-H?O, O-H?N and O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the components into a three-dimensional supramolecular framework.

Project description:The title complex, [Co(C(12)H(10)N(6))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](C(8)H(4)NO(6))(2), is composed of a mononuclear cobalt(II) cation and two 3-carb-oxy-5-nitro-benzoate anions for charge balance. In the cation, the Co(II) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. It bonds to two O atoms of two water mol-ecules, and two pairs of N atoms from two 4-amino-3,5-bis-(2-pyrid-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole mol-ecules, which behave as bidentate chelating ligands. There are intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds in the cation. In the crystal, there are a number of inter-molecular N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, as well as inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.657?(2) and 3.847?(2)?Å], that link the mol-ecules into two-dimensional networks lying parallel to the ab plane. The presence of C-H?O inter-actions leads to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C(17)H(12)N(6), the 2-pyridyl rings in the 3- and 4-positions and the 3-pyridyl ring in the 5-position make dihedral angles of 29.78?(16), 67.06?(16) and 32.97?(16)°, respectively, with the triazole group. The dihedral angle between the two 2-pyridyl rings is 65.72?(15)°. The mol-ecule contains two H-bonded carboxyl O acceptors and two H-bonded N-H donors in the benzimidazol groups, which inter-act with two symmetry-related uncoordinated water mol-ecules so that neighboring mol-ecular units are linked by (O-H)(water)⋯O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bonds with an R(2) (4)(8) graph-set motif, generating a helical chain in the a-axis direction. These chains are, in turn, inter-connected by (N-H)(benzimidazol)⋯O(water) hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.
