ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title complex, [Ni(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), exhibits a two-dimensional network, which is built up from slightly distorted NiN(4)O(2) polyhedra (2 symmetry), bipyridine ligands, and carboxyl-ate anions. The Ni(II) atoms are six-coordinated by two O atoms of two monodentate carboxyl-ate anions and four N atoms from bipyridine ligands and are connected into layers by the 4,4'-bipyridine ligands.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of cobalt nitrate with 4,4'-bipyridine and 3-nitro-benzoic acid lead to the formation of the title complex, [Co(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n). In the crystal structure, the Co(II) atoms are coordinated by two terminal carboxyl-ate anions and four 4,4'-bipyridine ligands within slightly distorted octa-hedra. The Co(II) atom and one of the two independent 4,4'-bipyridine ligands are located on a twofold rotation axis, while the second independent 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecule is located on a centre of inversion. One of the two rings of one 4,4'-bipyridine ligand is disordered over two orientations and was refined using a split model [occupancy ratio 0.68?(2):0.32?(2)]. The Co(II) atoms are connected by the 4,4'-bipyridine ligands into layers, which are located parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:In the title complex, [Pb(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the Pb(II) atom is located on a twofold rotation axis and is six-coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two 3-methyl-benzoate ligands and two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bpy) ligands, displaying a hemi-directed coordination. The 4,4'-bpy ligand has an inversion center at the mid-point of the central C-C bond. The Pb(II) atoms are linked by bidentate bridging 4,4'-bpy into a chain along [101]. These chains are further connected into layers via C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[Zn(C(7)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·4H(2)O}(n), contains a highly distorted octa-hedral Zn(II) metal center strongly coordinated by two N atoms of two 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) ligands and chelated by two 4-methyl-benzoate anions. The crystallographic inversion center and glide plane present at the center of the C-C single bond of 4,4'-bipy, along with the cis coordination motif of the 4,4'-bipy, lead to one-dimensional zigzag chains. There are a large number of water mol-ecules in the crystal structure, which also form one-dimensional chains through O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title binuclear complex, [Co(2)(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(3)(H(2)O)(6)], has been synthesized hydro-thermally from 3-nitro-phthalic acid (H(2)NPA), Co(NO(3))(2)·6H(2)O and 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy). The mol-ecule of the complex occupies a special position on an inversion centre. The Co(II) atom has a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment formed by two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipy ligands, one carboxyl-ate O atom from NPA, and three O atoms of water mol-ecules. An extensive O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen-bonding system links mol-ecules of the complex into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(7)H(3)ClNO(4))(4)](n), the coordination geometry around each Cu(II) ion is distorted square-pyramidal. The bipyridine ligands also lies on a twofold rotation axis and bridge the Co(II) ions, forming chains extending along [010]. An intra-chain O-H?O hydrogen bond is observed.
