ABSTRACT: The title hydrated molecular salt, 2C(12)H(9)N(2) (+)·C(14)H(6)O(8)S(2) (2-)·6H(2)O, consists of 1,10-phenanthrolinium (phen-H(+)) cations, anthraquinone-1,5-disulfonate (AQDS(2-)) anions, which occupy a centre of inversion, and water molecules of crystal-lization. In the crystal, a supra-molecular network structure is formed via N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H?O and ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.651?(6) and 3.545?(8)?Å].

In addition, there is an extensive network of C-H?O inter-actions between the cations and anions. There are two formula units per asymmetric unit. The crystal studied exhibits inversion twinning.

The [Co(CN)6](3-) anion exhibits an octa-hedral geometry. In the structure, cations and anions are linked alternatively through O-H?O, O-H?N, N-H?O and N-H?N hydrogen bonds, ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.523?(2)-4.099?(2)?Å] and van der Waals forces, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 2C(14)H(13)N(2) (+)·2C(4)H(5)O(6) (-)·9H(2)O, contains two cations and two anions in addition to nine mol-ecules of water. Each of the hydrogen tartrate anions is hydrogen bonded to itself by translation along [100] in a head-to-tail fashion via a short hydrogen bond with donor-acceptor distances of 2.473?(4) and 2.496?(4)?Å. A large number of inter-molecular O-H?O, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, as well as ?-? stacking [centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.642?(3) to 3.866?(3)?Å], play an important role in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the structure of the title 2:1 proton-transfer compound, 2C12H8N3O2 (+)·C10H4O8 (2-), the 6-nitro-1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecules act as proton sponges, accepting protons from pyromellitic acid. The -NO2 group of one of the 6-nitro-1,10-phenanthrolin-1-ium cations is disordered and was refined with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.624 (15):0.376 (15). Two -COOH(-COO(-)) groups of the 2,5-di-carb-oxy-terephthalate dianion are disordered and were refined with site-occupancy ratios of 0.769 (4):0.231 (4) and 0.766 (5):0.234 (5). The -NO2 group of the second cation is also disordered about a pseudo-twofold rotation axis and was refined with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.903 (3):0.097 (3). There is an intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond in the anion. The phenanthroline rings of the two cations are inclined to one another by 31.3 (1)°. In the anions, considering the major components only, the carb-oxy-lic acid groups (-COOH) are inclined to the benzene ring by 17.3 (2) and 22.3 (3)°. The carboxyl-ate groups (-COO(-)) are twisted by 9.3 (2) and 13.6 (6)° with respect to the benzene ring. In the crystal, adjacent 2,5-di-carb-oxy-terephthalate anions are linked via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [010]. The cations are attached to the chain of anions by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(12)H(9)N(2))(2)[PtBr(6)]·2H(2)O, contains a protonated 1,10-phenanthroline cation (H-phen), one half of a [PtBr(6)](2-) anionic complex and a solvent water mol-ecule. The Pt(IV) ion is located on an inversion centre and is coordinated in an octa-hedral environment by six Br atoms. The crystal structure displays numerous inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between six-membered rings of H-phen, with a shortest centroid-centroid distance of 3.670?(5)?Å, and inter-molecular N-H?O, O-H?Br and O-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C12H9N2)2[ZnCl4]·H2O, the two independent 1,10-phenanthrolinium cations are bridged by the water mol-ecule and the tetrahedral tetrachloridozincate anion via N-H⋯O, O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [100]. The chains are linked via C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and a number of π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances vary from 3.5594 (14) to 3.7057 (13) Å], forming a three-dimensional network. In each 1,10-phenanthrolinium cation, there is a short N-H⋯N inter-action.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, (C(12)H(9)N(2))(3)[Fe(CN)(6)]·C(2)H(5)OH·3H(2)O, consists of two half [Fe(CN)(6)](3-) anions located on inversion centers, three 1,10-phenanthrolin-1-ium cations, [Hphen](+), an ethanol and three water solvent mol-ecules. The average Fe-C and C-N bond lengths are 1.942?(6) and 1.154?(3)?Å, respectively, while the Fe-C-N angles deviate slightly from linearity with values ranging from 177.8?(2) to 179.7?(2)°. The Fe(III) atoms adopt a distorted octa-hedral geometry. All the species are linked through O-H?N, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, resulting in a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title complex, {[Mn(C(14)H(6)O(8)S(2))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·4H(2)O}(n), exhibits a chain-like polymeric structure with 9,10-dioxo-anthracene-1,5-disulfonate anions bridging Mn(II) atoms in a bis-monodentate mode. The unique Mn(II) atom is located on a crystallographic centre of inversion. Four N atoms from two chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two sulfonate O atoms from two symmetry-related 9,10-dioxoanthracene-1,5-disulfonate anions give rise to a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment around the Mn(II) centre. The centroid of the central ring of the anthraquinone ligand represents another crystallographic centre of inversion. In the crystal structure, inter-ligand ?-? stacking [centroid-to-centroid distances 3.532?(1) and 3.497?(3)?Å] and inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions assemble the chains into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(7)N(2)O(2) (+)·Cl(-), is isostructural with its bromide analogue. The compound exhibits a layered structure in which all atoms lie on a crystallographic mirror plane. N(+)-H⋯Cl(-) hydrogen bonds, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl(-) contacts are formed within each layer. The perpendicular separation between the layers is 3.141 (1) Å.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]SO(4)·6H(2)O, was obtained unexpectedly during an attempt to synthesize a cadmium complex with bidentate bridging sulfate ligands via hydro-thermal synthesis. The Cd(II) metal ion is six-coordinated by two chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two water mol-ecules, resulting in a distorted octa-hedral geometry for the metal ion. The two chelating N(2)C(2) groups are almost perpendicular to each other [dihedral angle = 86.75?(2)°]. In the crystal, the [Cd(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) complex cations join with the sulfate anions through two O(water)-H?O(sulfate) hydrogen bonds. These ion pairs are further inter-linked into a two-dimensional supermolecular structure via additional O-H?O hydrogen bonds.
